Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

First of all, thanks for all of this info. And thanks to WickedXJ for pointing me here. It helped me get from 20.xx.xx all the way up to 50.00.07 in my recently acquired 2011 JGC. That being said, I'm still having an issue with music playing directly from my thumb drive through the radio. I'm using a 16 Gb drive plugged in to the center console (arm rest) usb port. (I have a 430N) Most of the music is there and accessible, but some of the folders don't show up at all. I thought the upgrade would solve that problem, but I was mistaken... I think. It's kind of weird, because some songs that weren't showing up before (in 20.xx.xx software) are showing up now (in 50.00.07). But still not all. And it used to pick up where I left off, after turning the engine off then on, but now I have to switch to radio or something and then back to AUX to get it to start playing again. I also noticed in some pictures that there are yellow markings in the background of the screen, where mine is all black. (See attached) Is that supposed to be there and my upgrade didn't finish? Or is that just a setting? Maybe it's just some sort of file format? (There's a mixture of mp3 and m4a files, but there's no rhyme or reason to which show up.) You guys really seem to know what you're doing here, so any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

Strange thing happened today. The blurred horizontal yellow bars showed up in the background of my radio screen. Then they were gone again a little later. Still had to switch to something else before the usb drive was recognized, though. Anyone have any ideas about this or experience it before?

My bad. Turns out the yellow background goes away when the lights turn on. Still the same issues with the thumb drive though.

Anyone having issues with an iPhone 5/iOS 7.0.6 Bluetooth connection (RHB radio)? Since I upgraded to the new OS, the Bluetooth keeps dropping and reconnecting every 20-30 seconds. Remote volume control seems to not be activating all of the time so I can't adjust the volume when it is connected.

I have tried restarting phone, re-pairing the phone, turning off WiFi and no change.

Any ideas?

Thanx.

Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

Hello new to the forums, had to register to ask a few questions. I've been searching to see if there was an update for my radio, and it looks like there is (hopefully). I have a 2011 JKU 70th Anniversary Edition with a 430n RHB w/Nav. Currently the software is 23.xx.xx, System 203. Can I update my system to the 50.xx.xx? If I can the next question is where do I get the files?

Thanks for your help.

#1 - as far as I know, only MP3 files are supported.
#2 - looks like your Gracenotes version is a little out of date, but I'm not sure how to upgrade that. If you downloaded the updates from Sox's site, I think he has the Gracenotes update for the 430N, but I'm not sure.
#3 - I've never had much luck playing files off USB drive in center console. My radio switches to some other input until it has time to register the USB drive and then seems to start from the beginning again. I don't use a folder structure. I just dump all my files onto the root of the USB drive.

I load files onto a Class10 microSD card and put that into a small USB adapter and then just transfer the files onto the internal hard drive. 5GB takes about 40-45 minutes to complete.

My 2012 started at v23.
I recommend upgrading to v33 and then to v50.
Look through the radio posts for a guy named Sox.
He has posted his web site with an account/password to access his files.
I think he has the v33 and v50 updates on his site.
Burn them to CDROM.
Do NOT attempt to update via USB or you risk 'bricking' your radio.

The only update I do via USB is the Garmin maps, if you want to do that you have to do so while on v33. v50 doesn't allow map updates for some reason.

Worst case, if you can't find Sox's info PM me a Gmail address and I can give you read access to the v33 and v50 ISO images on my GDrive.

You need to burn the ISO files as an "image" to the CDROM at 16x or less. If you are unfamiliar with that concept then download InfraRecorder (free/OpenSource) and install that. One of the options when you start the program is "Burn Image", use that option and point it at the ISO file.

Map updates: search the forums. There's plenty of help/hints on how to do it for 'free' if you are not adverse to a little 'piracy' (actually copyright infringement).

The latest Garmin/Navteq maps version that I am aware of is 2014.30

We are basically screwed.
Our 'smart' phones keep updating and the Jeep radio/Uconnect does not.

At least that is my humble opinion. Our phones update to conform to newer communication standards, but Jeep/Chrysler doesn't see the 'profit' in bothering to update older radio models.

Thanks for all the help Todd3.6, I found Sox's files. Looks like I'll be busy playing with my jeep stereo this weekend.
For the Garmin updates I've been searching around and found info/files,etc that I need. I just need to read over again. I also found out that 2014.40 is out. I would rather install the latest and greatest.
Again thanks for all of your help.

I just did the update to 2014.40 and I want to warn you DO NOT try to upgrade your maps after upgrading to 50.xxx use 33.xxx then after you get you maps straight then update to 50.xxx

No ideas here. I just got UConnect installed though on my 2011 with the 430n. Only thing I've noticed is I've had a few songs "skip". Almost undetectable but definitely skipping a little. I have an iPhone 4s/iOS 7.0.6
