My first post!

Terpcorp, I believe you can. The TSB does not provide instructions or warn about interim steps. It just says <interpretation> "If radio software is less than version 50.00.07, then upgrade"

Exclamation Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

INFORMATIONAL:

Upgraded My '13 hawk with 430 RBZ from 43.00.11 to 50.00.07 successfully.

Didn't do much for me (still no SMS on iPhone 5 -- uuugh!).

A little concerned though that my Audio CPU version was at 032212 when on v43, but the version dropped to 022113 on v50 -- I don't know if this is a serialized version # or if it is just an identifier or checksum. If it's serial that would be a big bummer since I'm guessing I can't go back to v43.

Edit: Audio still sounds great for SAT and Phone Calls - so no perceived changes there. And the one thing I did get with v50 was the graphic for the SAT stations.

Well I am trying to update and it looked like it was working fine but after a reboot it goes to the "Jeep uconnect" screen then back to reboot over and over. Any ideas what is wrong?

In my update it rebooted about three times.

You first start the update it goes to the black update screen which copies installer files into the radio, then it reboots to a grey update screen with blue progress bars. Then it update three components: firmware, application, then audio CPU. A last reboot for me took me to the "Enter Security Code" screen, where I tried "0000" as other have suggested and that didn't work. I shut off the power from ACC then back on to ACC. As the power came back on I kept hitting the LOAD button to eject the disc (or else it'll keep trying to load the firmware again). After taking the disc out, the radio came up normal.

Did you try taking the disc out and power off/on again?

Yes tried turning off and on and won't eject. Unplugged battery for five minutes with no luck either. No unplugging battery for longer period of time. Ugh! Any other options out there?

Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

Thinking about about this the RHB that might be a slightly older model (different chip or hardware) the software may have a conflict with hardware. This may be the reason they don't include 2011 in these update. If under warranty jeep will most likely replace the radio free of charge. I would do your best to get the disk out like have someone press eject at same time as you plug the fuse or power back in. This works for computers a lot and may work on the RHB. Hope I helped at least a little.

terpcop, I'm sorry you're having this problem. Your right that the TSB calls for 2012+ but prior to Apr 30, 2013, however it seems like dckcentaur, pipesta and ants818's experience was different, maybe because it is an early vs late 2011 issue?!?

Either way I'd try keep the battery plugged in and try alternating the ACC power and the Vol/Pwr button while holding or pulsing the LOAD button to try and eject the CD.

The fuse did not work. I tried many options alternation buttons with no luck. Seems there is no manual eject on the RHB like on other models. I just bought the GC used this week so I will take it back to the dealer and hope they fix the issue for free.

I feel that if I could just get the cd out it would at least allow me to do something to work on it. Thanks for the replies.

I do have another Idea Try using a usb drive with a RHB software update it. RHB can be downgraded as I needed to do it when installing because I installed while in a Parking garage and no access to the the satellites for Radio and The GPS.

It won't do anything with a USB in and the disc is stuck inside so I can't downgrade. At the dealership now so we will see of they can fix it and if its warranty.

Re: New (Aug 9, 2013) Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RHB 50.00.07

Are we EVER going to get a Gracenote update for these dang RHB models? It has gotten real old having to manually enter all the CD information when copying to the HDD (Artist, Album Title, Genre and every single song title), for practically every new CD I enter using the original CD or from a iTunes rip to thumbdrive to HDD. We paid a LOT of extra money for a fancy radio system with features that have never worked properly, and have not be updated in the 2 years of my ownership from new. And on top of it - no album art for over 75% of the 300 albums I have on my HDD.

And on top of it, I have not downloaded the update being discussed from the CD that Chrysler sent me 2 months ago - because the new graphics SUCK compared to the factory ones the I personally prefer (Garmin in particular). I bought the Garmin GPS radio, because I prefer the standard Garmin graphics. Otherwise, I would have ordered the higher priced 730N system - and gotten better support and more timely updates had I known.
