Subscribed.

I have been trying to get them to see if they can get a work around for the Navigation on the 2015 Altitude.
Jeep did not supply the App to allow it to have live traffic updates. They decided only Navigation is good enough. I live in NY so this is useless. I will need a subscription to Sirius Travel link still but I am ok with that as long as I can get Traffic updates.

Does anyone else have this issue?

there's 2 different radios. One that comes with NAV from the factory- that has the ability to get Sirius traffic. The other- comes without nav but the dealer adds nav (by entering in the keycode)- these apparently can not get sirius traffic. Too my knowledge no one has mentioned customtronix being able to add that- it appears they typically are enabling latent features so if your radio never had the ability to add the feature then i dont know there's anything you can do. If they could somehow get the app from the other radio installed and your radio had the correct hardware you would very possibly hit a roadblack getting Sirius to enable your radio to decode the data (even if you paid them)- because their systems probably see your serial number as not able to get the data so they wouldn't send you the proper "hits" to decode the data.

that said- if you are in NY and "NEED" traffic data then Sirius is seriously second rate compared to google nav, waze, or something else that can get REAL- real time traffic from a cellular signal.

Basically sirius has to package up the data for every single street in the US and then transmit all that data over their sat's to the radios. They're already bitrate constrained- see the many posts about the music "quality sucks" (not my humble opinion but enough have it that sirius isn't going to dramatically further reduce their limited music bandwidth to serve traffic data better.

The end result is sirius traffic data does not cover all the streets that google or others cover. Basically with google if there's been enough android phones driving on the road then google has collected and will provide traffic data- no matter how remote or secondary the road is. Sirius has to decide if sending every cross street in Manhattan is an efficient use of their limited bandwidth or would they rather be able to use that to provide 50% more roads in Montana. Google just sends what you phone requests that second so they can send the hundreds of streets within 5 minutes of your current location probably instantly.

Also becasue of this Sirius isn't sending all the data every second- there's something of a loop- i don't know the specifics but you can imagine they transmit NY then NY than PA and work their way through the other 47 states before repeating/updating the NY data. Google has no constraint- if you leave Manhattan and hit NJ then your phone just asks google for the Jersey City data and google sends over all the streets nearby (Not literally but as an imaginary example to understand their limits)

so if traffic data on your cars screen is your "killer app" then you might want to read this thread with an eye for the various options how to mirror your phone's nav app onto the uconnect screen using the RAX jailbreak. There's no need to wait- that just works today as others have given various examples.

new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I'd hand over some serious money if Customtronix could find a way to integrate CarPlay into the head unit!!!

You need to get on the latest version.

2 choices-

1) get the latest tweaked version from Customtronix

(check your email/spam folders too- they sent links to the latest software from them some time ago)

2) rollback to the factory version and then update using the factory software and forego any of the customtronix features.
Thanks michaelk, they got me squared away. I'm back to normal now. Every now and then Uconnect services act up, but what else is new right?

Well I just jumped mobile ships so my request changes to Android Auto now lol. I don't know what's involved, but I'm assuming Google and Apple release API's to devs to program this stuff. And seeing as uconnect is hacked here with customtronix, it seems feasible to me that this could work. Again, I'd pay big bux to get a stable solution here that would just obliterate uConnect in terms of actual use ability and ease of use.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

1. Does anybody know what the rollback software looks like. I'm pretty sure Magnus sent me the roll back file but i'm not sure which file it is. I created a "Rax" folder and dumped everything in there but not sure what's what.

2. I have a 2014 2500 Ram, what update are we on? My radio says it's 14.25.5
I have never received any updates from customtronix. Are we supposed to request updates or do they have a list of everyone they have sold to and they do a mass email? ...yes I have checked my junk mail.

I actually have had trouble with this from day 1 and customtronix isn't getting back to me about it. Everything works fine except when I first turn the truck on, it brings up my front cam. I have to tap the screen so it shows the normal screen. When I put it in reverse, the rev cam comes on just fine, but when I put it back in neutral it shows the front cam again then I have to tap it. I have a manual tranny and Magnus said that is probably the issue and he would work on it. That was months ago and he wont get back to me about it. So far everyone on here has been pretty satisfied with the customer service and I was too until Magnus has ignored me about this problem.

I uploaded a couple videos showing the problem.

Maybe someone on here who is close to Magnus or is s Dev tester could relay this back to him.

I did just email him today about re-sending the roll back software so we'll see if he gets back to me on that.

Thanks for any help, really love this otherwise...

...one more thing...what do I do about the safety recall USB I received from FCA. Should I use the roll back, then install the recall, then re-install my tokens? I'm referring to recall R40/ NHTSA 15V-461 Radio Security Vulnerability.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Just to clarify, to use the roll back software, I unzip the file and drag it to empty usb...it should only be the .iso on the usb right? My rollback didn't come with any other files, just the "RA4 14.25.5" which was actually an .exe file. When I ran the .exe it unzipped it into a "swdl.iso" file, which I put on the usb.

next question...how long should it take to recognize the roll back, I am having a problem like others where it recognizes the usb right away, but then hangs up and says "device unplayable". I waited about 5 min and nothing happens, should I wait longer?

Thanks

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Correction, you actually need to "extract" the rollback into the usb, not drag. If u drag, it won't work, least for me it didn't.

I use winrar.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

So I actually did extract the file directly to the usb...but like I said, my file was a .exe file...maybe because windows 10 is using it's own in house zip software...maybe i'll try it with WinRAR just to make sure...

does it seem right that the .iso file is named swdl and the parent file didn't say "rollback" in it's name...I do have an email to Magnus to send me the rollback software again, but it is the weekend so hopefully get it tomorrow

what is the naming convention of your rollback software?

I believe it's swdl also. I'll check when I'm back home.
