Shouldn't you be able to do a 'clean' install by using the latest uConnect software from Chyro?

That should be correct but Zhe Wiz says he cannot...

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

You guys should see if you can roll back to the stock version of the software or not. Curious if it's just me. Pretty easy to test w/o actually doing it. Go to the Uconnect website, download the software, follow the directions and install the software on a USB stick as if you were going to upgrade. Insert the stick in "Run" mode (start button twice, no brakes) and see if the update software runs or not. If it does, just hit "no". If it doesn't show up, you have the same problem I have. No way to go back to factory software because with the Customtronix software installed, the Uconnect update software is not recognized.

That's what happens to me anyway. Anyone else? If anyone does find a way, please let me know details. I've even tried a hard reset with the stock stick inserted and the "do you want to update" dialog still doesn't show up.

At the moment, I SERIOUSLY DISCOURAGE anyone from purchasing this software. I reserve the right to change my mind, but as of right now there's no way I have found to go back to stock, and no promises from customtronix that I will ever be able to. So far all I've gotten from them is acknowledgement of a problem. So my recommendation right now is STAY AWAY. I'd feel a LITTLE better if I were being kept up to date on what's going on. Right now I'm lucky if I get 1 email a day from them, and there's never much information in those emails.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

With the Uconnect software still being a work in progress, I'd be very leery installing third party software on my radio. Zhe Wiz, I hope you can find a way to turn back to factory version. Do you have a friend in dealer service you could talk to off the record? They might be able to point you in a good direction to deal with service.

Hi folks!! Well it's not possible to go back to original stock version without the recovery stick! This stick will be released within a week or so, as soon as we are done with the new firmware 14.22.13. Anyway I promise you that if you want to return to original/stock firmware you will be able to, we do this more or less every day when we test our new firmwares so it's no big deal.

We have had some issues with the SRT app on the NA cars (all other markets work 100%) due to the Uconnect, since we can't connect to it it's a little bit tricky, we are working with some beta testers to fix the issue. YOU are always able to uninstall the features like the SRT app or any other feature. Just insert the same old install-usb with the token and choose uninstall.. Problem solved:-). At the moment we have removed the SRT feature for NA systems until we solve the Uconnect issue.

We are working in the lab like lab rats and we only check this forum every now and then. We are always available via e-mail. My address is magnus([round thingy])dvdirect([dot])net

Will the recovery stick be a download similar to the other downloads? Will it be a separate purchase? I would hope not.

The good news I get out of this is that I will eventually be able to go back to stock.

BUT there's one thing you say that's not true for me - you say that I can uninstall the SRT app and all other features and I'll be back to normal. BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE. I'm running around now with all features uninstalled. BUT, I cannot go to the Uconnect store, iHeartRadio is gone, Slacker is gone, Pandora is gone. I can't register. Definitely not "problem solved"!

So as much as you say I can uninstall and things will be ok, that's NOT true on mine.

The above is wise advice. I'm a bit of a risk taker when software is involved, so I'm not panicking yet. BUT I cannot recommend the software until these wrinkles are worked out UNLESS you also are OK with the risk. Just know that it's not smooth right now.

I don't know anyone at a Jeep dealer (I lost my "insider" when I left Subaru!). I'm reliant upon Customtronix to fix me at the moment, hopefully they will and I can change my recommendation.
