Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to remove the Unconnect unit from the dash?

Magnus is needing some additional information of a sticker on the back of our Australian units and I dont really want to rip the whole dash apart to get the information and then again to install everything when the new harness arrives?

The bezel around the radio (includes vents and hvac controls) is help on with 12 clips. Open the compartment at the bottom of the stack and carefully pull from the bottom (it takes a little force) and then work your way up the sides and top.

From there, the radio is held by 4 7mm bolts.

5 minutes... 10 tops once you get the nerve to pull on the bezel.

Thanks DravenGSX

Will have a look, but I can see it ending in tears

I have sent Mangus the build sheet supplied by Milous, so HOPING that that will have the information he requires.

If not at least I know it is not that hard to get out unless I break the trim trying

Thanks

Nah currently Chromecast needs to be on a network with the device that it is controlling. This wouldn't work for me currently since my phone is providing the wireless network. So my phone can't be on the Wi-Fi network it is providing. There are work arounds but more than I want to get into right now.

I'd have to agree about the VES. I'm using the exact same converter and Push2Tv as CLStech and I also have the same bar. Hell, I'm even using the same phone as CLS... HTC One M8. Creepy Video comes in full screen for a bit, then the bar comes on. Also, the audio will only play if I plug a 3.5mm cord in the jack and don't connect it to my phone. The head unit then switches to "AUX Input" and plays the audio from the converter since the phone isn't connected to the other end of the 3.5mm cord. I did a triple take when I plugged the cord in the media center and audio immediately started playing wirelessly even though I wasn't on BT or hooked up to the other end of the cord. Otherwise, everything works as described and with all of the room behind the dash, set up and running cables was a breeze. Any way to get a software fix to address this issue, Magnus?

We have seen it on the bench but not in our RAM 1500, It is the VEH_Line that is setting up the parameters for that specific car since it should be having VES on those video inputs, the bar is actually a overlay for the Icons to control the VES system. I know this may sound strange for some people but there are hundreds of parameters for each single car.

when I have checked the bar itīs not cutting the video like a bad letterbox! the actual picture is above the bar. still annoying though.

Anyway we will lokk into that but itīs deeeeep in the code

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1408115788.928342.jpgHi CLSTECH, where/how did you connect the power for the front camera? Yellow jack is for video and I see red/black cable for power. Your help will be much appreciated by this newbie. Thanks.

I'm not using the front camera. There are some other guys here that should chime in though

I'm going to use an "add a circuit" for the red(+) and crimp a mount on the black so I can attach it to a screw or bolt that is on the body to ground it.
