Hey guys, I'll be installing my harness today. Will I be able to route my ipod cable into the cubby where the USB/SD etc are?

Very easily there is plenty of space back there, below the side vent, and hole into the cubby at the top right corner.

Oh great! So you are saying a hole already exists in the top right corner?

Yeah more of an opening. You will see it easily once you get the trim off.

Cut a slit in the cover to pass the cable through and it seals fairly well but you can always further seal around the cable with some silicone.

This looks like a nice find. Can you get a more distant shot from inside and out so we have a better idea of that pass-through's location?

Thanks!

Here is a shot of my wiring going through the grommet in the firewall on the passenger side.

Pretty easy to spot. A bit hard to get to from engine side but easy from passenger inside area.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Placed my order for Silver.. Running on old software (Haven't updated in a while).

This will work as a fresh install (whatever the most recent they have released in overwriting, correct?)

Right now order is pending, haven't been able to pay yet. I guess I just need to wait for an email asking for payment, or is there another url to pay?

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Installed my front cam today and used the same grommet on the passenger side. Looking down under the hood against the firewall, it is pretty deep down below two wiring harnesses. I popped it out from inside the car, and then it promptly fell even deeper in the engine bay. But even with my fat arms, I was able to stretch and reach it to grab it.

I notched it out with a dremel and ran the video cable through it. Running the cable from there to the radio is a piece of cake. I put the camera in the lower grill, which was a pain in the rear. The wire on the cam from Customtronix isn't long enough to reach to the lower grill without the pigtail attached, so you have to fish the entire pigtail up in front of the radiator.

It provides a great view though, so totally worth the effort.
