You can't mirror the phone though since it requires the phone to have wifi on. Can't turn wifi and wifi hotspot on together.
That might be the ticket right there, setting it up inside first.

Two days ago when I bought the car I thought the rear entertainment would be a waste of money but the deal on the car was too good to pass up.

Now with the bronze package and hopefully soon to be chromecast update, the mirroring of the phone to the front screen could actually be nice to have.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I have been busy with a lot of fun stuff for the Jailbreaker:-)

We are going to ad something we will call "Splash" changer, meaning you can change the start up logo and back round to whatever you would like:-).

Looking into the "Warning Chimes" that makes me crazy, I almost want to smash the dash every time I hear the sound. The Chimes sound comes from the Cluster if you didnīt know that:-)itīs a small ugly speaker that only is good for making annoying sounds, it would be pretty easy to just remove that speaker but I guess nobody would like to tear apart the whole dash to get it out, so Im checking if it possible to remove it by the software. itīs not that easy as you would think, the cluster is connected with a different high speed canbus from the headunit but the headunit is just more or less bypassing information to the cluster. So we would need to tap in to that.

some of the features like controlling the lamps, mirrors and etc is not controlled by the head unit. I want to make a OBD dongle that would maybe solve some features I have in mind. Itīs not the highest priority but itīs something I need to do for future projects.

ooh almost forgot 2015 headunits has been upgraded!!! at the moment our RAX is not compatible with this units, itīs not that we canīt do them but we need a unit and have to rewrite our software. The official firmware version is 14.39 and will not work on MY 13 or MY14, so they really changed some major stuff. I think that it could be upgraded hardware like processor, XMSIrius decoder and etc. I have ordered one unit and I hope Im able to get it in asap.

I have some request of miracast (I guess itīs because new lock pick has it). You can buy one at ebay for 40 dollars and connect it to the Jailbreaker... we donīt want to start building in hardware in our stuff and get crazy support porblems because it doesnīt work so good..and it also gives you the chance to spend a few dollars more and get a really good one.

off to work again:-)

Not sure if this is of interest or not, but this is from the engineering menu on my 2015 with latest firmware.

Customtronix RAX Jailbreak Camera
==========================

Question about the camera, it has a little white wire, does any one of you for what will be used?
Do I need to cut it? is this for the parking lines ?

I haven't install the Software yet, so I can not test it now, but after it is installed it will be difficult to get the wire to cut it.

Regards.

Manuel

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot but I will give it a shot here. I have the RAX Jailbreak and installed the harness today to add Apple Ipod Touch to the "cargo cam" input. I am using an Apple Composite AV Cable. The video plays with no issues but there is no sound playing throughout the car.

Before switching on the cargo cam video source, change the Audio source in Uconnect to Aux. Once you've done that, then turn on cargo cam.

I'd dig around the internet for a manual to figure out exactly. And/or email the vendor to confirm. I've been looking at other cam's and seems sometimes those loops enable/disable the lines and other times they reverse the image depending on brand/model.

sounds like the supplied cameras do not do lines so i'd GUESS- JUST A GUESS- DONT TRY THIS AT HOME- so i'd guess that cutting it reverses the image. AGAIN JUST A GUESS.

from what i've read splicing them back together is not a picnic so best to confirm anything before you cut.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Installed the bronze today, speedlock works great.

I have the chromecast in the hdmi from the rear entertainment source. I took the mobile hotspot from the office put it in the car. Now I can mirror the phone or stream anything from it on the front screen and rear screens at anytime.

The normal chromecast streaming apps like youtube, google music, etc...look great. Mirroring the phone to the front screen isn't that great. It looks ok, but don't really see a real use for it right now since I could just stream anything through the chromecast without mirroring. I could maybe see using Waze or Google earth every now and then through mirror.

Well...I was wrong about mirroring not being useful. Just got done with an 1:30 drive watching live football through the directv sunday ticket app mirrored to the front screen. It looked and worked great.

I obviously wasn't paying too much attention to the screen while driving, but it was still really nice to have.
