Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Agree about having the 2 rear cameras but it is my understanding there is still no way to switch on the reverse camera once over a certain speed, so cannot check trailers while in motion.

Would be great to use the factory rear camera as a reversing cam and a cargo cam that way I could connect my iPod to the spare input

Is it a standard thing for everyone that orders the Gold to get this Ram light set-up or does Customtronix normally match the light to the vehicle?

Though it would have been easier to just supply the camera and let the customer install

Yeah from what I gathered off of the product page they always provide the Ram Pickup light. Probably something they need to correct.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Was thinking about trying to put it in the brake light that is in the rear tailgate spoiler, but there does not look to be too much room and didnt know if you could actually get access inside that light?

Was hoping someone had been down this road and could have given some tips.

Or I may have to look at getting a enclosure and mounting next to the Blackvue as Snuke suggested

Ya'll'd be better off buying your own camera in that case. Probably cheaper too. That is most definitely a RAM pickup light from the cabin's roofline.

Well that's pretty poor, considering they had my VIN, make, model and build sheet of the car!

Why supply a "Gold" package that includes front and rear camera's if the rear is made for a completely different make and model?
Then expect the customer to replace/modify the rear camera for one that will actually fit

States in the Gold Package description -
Including 1x High end camera
Including 1x 3rd break light with high end camera pre-installed

Maybe I am missing something here, but I cant see ANYTHING about that 3rd break light only being suitable for a RAM Pickup

Everything else seems to work great

Has there been a fix or progress regarding VES black bar problem at the bottom of the screen? Any updates? Thank you.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I just returned from a 6000 mile trip with the Bronze package installed and it worked great - my wife was able to input all kinds of information into the GPS while we went down the road.

I have decided that I need to contact Magnus to see if I can upgrade the Bronze to the Silver since I've decided that I want to install a front camera to allow me to see what is directly in front of the vehicle while offroad. Didn't have any problems in this regard, but there were several incidents where I got out and looked before moving that could have been handled with a front camera. I'll try to get to that in the next day or so, but I have over 1500 emails here to deal with first.

Talking Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

OK, i must be beyond naive, but here goes: I have a 2014 Ram 2500 (didnt think you'd mind my posting here, as we have the same 8.4" uconnect radio, and I, too, am interested in this hack). Anyway, I have the 8.4A (without nav). I don't want, or need nav. My question is, what would this jailbreak do for me? My truck already has the backup cam. I have the optional cd player. Is there some way I can Watch dvd's through my cd player? Will this hack magically make my cd into a dvd player? I am not handy, and I dont want to do any wiring, or installations, or anything like that. If this is simply software plug and play, and i pop it in, and wala; i can play movies, that would be great.....Excuse my ignorance, again. Also, Im not very good with computers and stuff, so can they send me the USB stick already loaded, so i can just pop it in the truck? I dont Know how to download, upload, or any other kind of load, LOL.

Im in the U.S., by the way.

The CD player will not pay DVD's no matter what the software hack. If I recall correctly Customtronix was offering a plug and play bluray player though.

The good thing about this system is that you can add your own video source. This could be your own DVD player or media player...

Hi Hammer, welcome. Rax jailbreak bronze will work for your vehicle, but it only removes the speed lockout, which isn't as important for you since you don't have NAV. You will have to decide if the lookout removal is important for your situation.

And no, it will not make your cd player turn into a dvd player. As far as the USB install it's super easy, you just follow the instructions that customtronix sends you by email.

Thanks, man. So, being that i dont have NAV, the speed lockout doesnt really mean anything, I guess, because theres nothing thats really "locked out" for me, currently, so the bronze deal won't help. I'm wondering what the gold or silver deals might do for me, though. I would like to Watch movies or TV in the car, but I wouldn't Know how to permanently install a DVD player, in the vehicle. I guess I'll have to find someone who Knows how to do these things...perhaps an electronics shop. Thanks
