The good thing about this system is that you can add your own video source. This could be your own DVD player or media player...
Hi, thanks buddy! Ya, i dont have a dvd or media player (for the car) , but I'll have to see if maybe a local electronics shop can sell and install 1 for me, in a discreet, factory-style manner, perhaps right next to (or replacing) the existing, factory CD player (which is under the center armrest, in the Ram. I dont want to resort to bringing in a portable DVD player with me Every Time, as that is clumsy, and unattractive and having wires dangling, looks cheap and after-marketish, LOL. I'll ask around locally, if someone does such work out here, before i buy anything.

How long have you had the car running after the install? And how strong is the cell signal in your lower right bottom you almost need 3 bars and be running 45 + min for uconnect to relock and load the apps if it still does not go into settings and force a reinstall in the store they will come back

Well today is day 4 and the strength varies from 1 to 4 bars. I will try what you said. Thank you.

I found a workaround to the bottom black bar issue for the cargo cam. I uninstalled the token for the front camera and no more black bar. On my Nav system, when I first start the car and click on cargo car, the screen came in full. Once I start to drive and slow down, the front camera automatically gets triggered. It appears as though once the front camera gets triggered, the black bar appears at the bottom of the screen when I return to the cargo cam. I hope Magnus and the team can fix this issue in the next round of updates so I can re-install the front camera tokens.

Guys what has Magnus been up to lately? Can anyone catch me up? Last I read he was talking about adding a feature for custom wallpaper.

Can you elaborate how this is done? I've tried going to the u connect store and the packages come up but the one i have says included with trial. I let it sit in the store and nothing happens.

Go into the apps option ... all apps....uconnect store.... once store opens.... my apps....settings....reinstall apps.....

For mine it normally took 30 - 45 min with 3 bars of signal in 3g you can be driving in this time the unit may reboot a few times this is normal.

It can be a slow process but this would happen with the patched software or a factory upgrade of the version they both do the same at this point.

Thing will come back :wink

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

not sure anyone here but Magnus can answer- but just in case-

Is it possible for uconnect to tell the unit is hacked from the data (maybe logs) it sends to the mothership?

I have the silver package in hand but happen to be having a a problem with uconnect so not going to fiddle just yet.

Their website/apps/backend all stinks I think- the smartphone app no longer shows me keyfob buttons to do anything and if i try to use the website to lock/etc the vehicle it tells me the PIN is wrong even though it's not (as confirmed by customer care).

Anyway the point is when i called in via the assist button to try and get it fixed they got some data back from the car - obviously they get some identifier (maybe the vin) to answer the call with my name and know the year and model I have. But when troubleshooting they also knew the software version on the unit without me having to tell them. So left me wondering what else they can pull.

I was all excited to install my new toys this weekend, but i guess for now I better wait until second level support gets back to me (in the next 5 business days)....

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

yes since it is connected as a data connection through sprint they do have access to the car and yes they can check the version and also the vin and some stats, but they are very limited to their ability (this is why magnus does not change the version numbers and also needs the vin when he is setting it up).

When I first got mine the uconnect would not go active and would not allow apps to load so I had to call them on my phone rather then on the cars system the first person that I spoke with was very DUHHH so I asked to speak with someone more knowledgeable.

Finally she consented and moved me on to the next person this person was very aware of the system and how it worked she stated that there was still many issues with their ability to diagnose things and that much of it needs to be done by the dealer through the usb to download and to dump things out of the system for diagnostics. This was when she had me to do resets of the system back to factory and to reload all the apps and that she told me that if I was in an area of 1-2 bars of 3g data that the system would take a long time to sync and may not be allowed to do so.

The other thing that I have also learned in this process is that the system does seem to lock and load things faster if I have my Bluetooth connected and active I think that it is so that as the apps load they also check for updates through the Bluetooth to prevent heavy data usage on the phone I have wireless in my garage also and I have the phone connected to it and then to the car in Bluetooth, this seems to speed the process.

When ever I take the car in the shop for an oil change or service I do uninstall some of the camera options so that it will not attract attention, (suggested to me by the dealer ) if it is anything major with the system yes I would do a roll back to factory.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks for the reply imblackedout. If i go into my apps, settings, I get

"registration is not complete. You must complete the registration in order to view Settings."

My only option is to close and back to my apps page. I did email magnus with pics maybe he can help he has been getting back to me pretty fast. I did try reinstalling the usb and the software hoping it would be different but it wasnt.

I am also with the poster above on how to deal with future visits with the dealer. They poke around the computer in the jeep even if I get an oil change. Almost like they are looking for anything to possibly void warranty coverage. At least thats how it feels.
