Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

bought the silver for my durango- wanted to ditch the speed lockout and add a front cam.

works great!

just heads up to Durango owners- if you add the cargo cam feature it puts the button right in the spot where the button goes for the rear headrest remote fold-down. So you lose that functionality if want the cargo cam.

i dont need/want the cargo cam so no problem for me- i just uninstalled that option and went back to the headrest fold down.

If it was a big deal to me, i'd follow up with an email to magnus and i'd bet he'd come up with a fix.

Is it just me, or is this super expensive for some software? I get that the gold package gets you the 2 cameras, which are probably $100, but $700 for 99% software? This isnt microsoft..... and who's to say you couldnt take this image and distribute it to other people for a fraction of the price?

Well one thing is that it would be wrong thing to do and the developer is offering not only a 1 time service but on going updates in this price so do the right thing.

Also have you signed up to get the discounted prices that is listed earlier in the forum?

Each individual package is designed for the specific vin # and you must have the right vin to do this upgrade.

So if your only interested in the software and no harness or cameras then go with a lower package buy your own cameras and try to make the harness or better yet make your own software and see how much work it is.

This is one company that is offering JeepGarage members discounted software and great support

We should not try to hurt the relationship we have with them it is well worth the value.

My final suggestion is to get the silver pkg with 1 camera and harness and software it is the best value for a jeep and you can buy a 2nd cam from your own source.

The 2nd cam with brake light is designed for a ram truck so that you know.

I have a 2013 RAM and the dealer had the NAV-TV installed so I could get a backup camera working. I like the ability to have lockout disabled so thats a plus but wouldnt mind having the ability to add a front cam and the 3rd brake light camera. I didnt sign up for the discounted price mainly because this thread is 50+ pages deep and my eyes started to blur after 30. If you know what page exactly that would be awesome. Im all for supporting developers that give us cool features but not when the price is crazy high.

The price of things is what the market feels is right. If you think it's too expensive then don't buy. But just because you think it's too much doesn't make it right to steal it and redistribute it to whoever (which likely wouldn't work since it's digitally signed and keyed to your vin which resides in the radio and/or related computers). I think the price of beer at my local shop is a little steep- doesn't mean i can just take it.

if the price is "too much" for the market then they will be forced to cut the price to make it a viable product and the market will correct itself. Maybe you want to wait till the price goes down to a point that you would like?

If you think you could easily do it then go right ahead and hack it yourself, figure out how to sign the new images so the device will accept them, and sell it for less. I'm sure there will be tons of people wanting to pay you for it.

Im looking into:

Chimeīs ( I know for a fact that we will be able to fix )

Revcam (make it not turn off in higher speed, this is much harder since itīs not controlled by the nav, If you cut the Lin bus to the camera it will stay on but you will lose the overlay (park guide). If you can live without the overlay itīs really easy to just remove the Lin bus. We have done this but havenīt checked for any faulty codes with the Witech, it could be good to check that first before you play around)

One silly little thing that is driving me crazy is the stupid signature the thing adds to my texts that i can't edit or remove.

Maybe like picking wallpaper we could also pick our own signature?

Or probably easier just get rid of their signature?
