Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

just ordered the rax jailbreak silver and i am excited!!!

now my biggest question with this and i know some people are using airplay and push2tv with their cell phones

anyone have any luck with chromecast?

and what are my other options without using the cars wifi or paying additional money for a personal hotspot on my cell plan to mirror my cellphone onto the screen.

im using a nexus 5 android phone if that helps... and i plan on getting the new nexus 6 when it comes out

If you have an additional WiFi source you can make chromrcast work. I have not been able to use the same device as a hotspot and controller for the Chromecast. A personal hotspot in the car or the cars hotspot would make it work

Give me a few seconds to find the model.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00904...&robot_redir=1

The only gripe I have with the push2tv is that it is strictly mirroring. That means that if I wanted to do something else on my phone I have to interrupt what I'm playing on the screen. Not that big of a deal. The way I have it setup though is that I can use the HDMI cord to easily connect to other sources when necessary though.

I am running a chromecast, but I am curious how the miracast compares. Might try a miracast in the second hdmi port to see the differences. Maybe use mircast for all full mirroring and chromecast with apps that have built in chromecast support.

Couldn't you pick up a cheap wifi router and make it work that way?

I have an att hotspot in the car. The wireless router wouldn't work unless you got one that accepts sim cards.

Google is supposed to release a software update for the chromecast that will allow you to stream to it without needing to be on the same wifi network. That will solve the current issue.

Chromecast is a mirroring thing isn't it?

short answer, No

Long answer
Chromecast is a digital media streaming adapter developed by Google. The device, a 2.83-inch dongle, plays audio/video content on a high-definition television by streaming it via Wi-Fi from the Internet or local network.

Yes, it can mirror / cast. Although it is device dependant.

But that device must be on the same wireless network on order to mirror / cast. That's where the problem lies.
