Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Just in case Magnus is still looking for ideas of features to add, I'll toss out another.

Put in a feature to pull up the cameras with a "shortcut" button. Seems some other similar products allow you to hold the back button for a few seconds for certain functions. Would be quicker than having to hit the controls tab then cargo cam button. Quickness aside, It's more important for Durango owners as we have to pick the option to install the cargo cam button OR keep our factory button for 3rd row headrest folding. (If we install the cargo cam it blows away our factory button for the remote headrests)

I did get it to work.

Using the phone as hotspot/router. Then using a tablet to connect to the hotspot and use that to connect to the chromecast. Worked fine as long as had good signal for phone.

Gotcha, unfortunately that still requires a secondary device to control the chromecast. I think a media player such as the nexus player would be the only real solution.

Thanks for testing this out. I could possibly leave an old phone in the car to act like a remote for the chromecast...

So, just got the final stuff to start my project today: a silver JB, a Nexus player, and a front cam.

So, from a power perspective, I need to power the HDMI converter, and the Nexus Player. Did you all just use a simple inverter for this? I need one USB power and one standard plug.

Where do you all like to put the media device? Under the A/C controls inside the compartment, or in the glove box?

I happen to have an old portable wifi hotspot/router I used to use when I travelled in hotels. Should I install that as well for a local network, or is that superfluous?

Thanks!

I actually got Netflix to work just fine today from my galaxy to the chrome cast. So I didn't need a secondary device.

Also nexus player does not support espn app.

In fact, there's a pre-release version of the ESPN app out.

Most Popular APPS With Leanback Launcher Cod… | Nexus Player | XDA Forums

It works decently well, a little hacky at this point.

Great. I'll test it out when I can. Little confused on what does and doesn't work. Sounds like you have successfully used the Chromecast apps with just your phone present?

If that is true that is good. I believe chrome now has an app for Plex which I use to stream movies from a buddies computer.

Can anyone summarize any major issues with the jailbreak software? I am wanting to get the bronze version. Also would the same purchase be able to work on two vehicles?

I have not experienced any major issues.

One vehicle only. It's tied to the VIN.

Granted I've had it installed less than a week, but absolutely zero issues. Speed lockout is great. I don't have the VES. I'm about to install the cams that arrived today, but even without them installed it's functioning. I get a blue screen when slowing down, because there is no cam input yet. I can toggle between all the cam views (cargo, rev, and front). So far so good.
