Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Sorry am I missing something here, is the software not customized for the RG/RJ Version vs the North American RA Series.

The software identifiers will definitely not install over an incompatible radio model.

Will the rollback package I received is named to indicate that it is for the Europe / rest of the world market.

Cheers,
Steve

Hmmm, that might be an issue, here is the hardware list and I consider RG to be Europe whereas my friends down under are RJ. There is no global compatibility to the software.

I am also more than concerned that people think the 2015 Hardware is "100% the same" as a 2014 because it is not.

Will excuse my shameful lack of Jeep knowledge, but what's the difference between a 3 and 4? Is the 3 the tiny screen one???

No worries,

3 Generally is the unit without NAV and 4 is the Unit with NAV.

The 2 Series is a different animal with the small colour displays.

Couldn't agree more, that's why I have asked Customtronix for a 2015 version of the roll back software. I'd be shocked if the 14.22 version worked for my car.

Just a follow up to this issue, I recently emailed Magnus about a rollback and he sent it to me but also a link to the 14.47 RAX JB, but this time the file name had a "B" at the end of after NA "Install-One-Jailbreaker-14.47.1019-NA-B.rar"

I extracted it, and updated my radio and now the VR button works

He didn't specifically say they fixed anything but hey it works! He responds pretty quick when you email him directly and is sending me out a new camera too because mine will not mirror the image. Good customer service at it's best

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Just finished reading all 1089 posts in this thread. I purchased a used 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland 7 days ago, after totaling my 2005 Grand Cherokee with over 412,000 miles on it. I am already overly pleased with this new GC. I automatically updated the software on the 8.4an in hopes of removing the speed lock. That was a no go, and I have come across this thread. This is a very cool hack/mod that I would like to do. I would like to wait to see if Uconnect updates anymore for my 2014 version 14.25.5, since the last update was July of 2014. But definitely interested in removing speed lock, and installing front cam, for parking purposes, or for seeing the dogs when they are in front of your car trying to eat your tires.

Customtronix updates their software to match the latest released by Jeep/UConnect. So there is no need to wait.

Magnus says it is necessary to do a FACTORY reset after rollback. This is the reset that requires pressing the up and down temperature button simultaneously, then selecting reset from the resulting menu. I believe this means some/all settings are erased. I did not do this, and am not going to try it and take the car back to the dealer just to see if it works. I will do it next time however, and also after rollback and reset, will upgrade the Uconnect version to whatever is the then latest (my current rollback takes it back to 14.23.13, not 14.25.5).
For International members, Magnus also said that the TSB 14-089 is included in the 14.25.5 version of the jailbreak he provided, so I don't need to worry about that. This is consistent with the dealer telling me that my software is "all up to date anyway" when saying his computer couldn't communicate with my version. However, it is inconsistent with Snuke's experience that 14-089 fixed issues with his already installed 14.25.5.
I can't explain that, but since I can't find anything in the list of symptoms 14-089 fixes that I care about, I'm not going to worry about that either. Maybe Willx can explain the relationship between 14-089 and 14.25.5?
Thanks,
Russell
