Thanks for the reply. I have noticed when plugging in the HDMI cable it can tend to be fluky as far as video audio. The chromecast is HDMI and so is the Netgear 3000 so I do need a converter. What I would like to do is be able to use the chromecast like I had before. Using the Netgear requires an HDMI cable which currently I don't have one that less than 3 feet. With that coiled up along with the extra bulk of the Netgear it just takes up more space than just a chromecast. Another negative with the netgear is I have to have a screen running whether it be phone or tablet.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I have a similar (but different) question as someone else did a while back in the thread...
I am replacing my 8.4a with a 8.4an. Just bought and am waiting for my silver rax, my question is about the VIN I gave Magnus...is it going to work with the the 8.4an? I bought the system from a guy who get's blemished ones form Chrysler, fixes what is broke or scratch then sells them. (That's his story anyway, though it does look brand new) They are virtually brand new and I don't think ever been in a vehicle. He gave me a code to type in when I install it. I just got it a few days ago so I haven't installed it yet because I'm waiting for the rax so I can do it all at once.

Thanks for any help....

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Just ordered my Silver Package Jailbreak. Hopefully I will get the download link to install sometime this weekend. I also just downloaded the new update (15.06.1) and planned on installing it in a few minutes. Will this cause problems with the jailbreak? Should I just wait to install the update?

Magnus- assuming the '15 North America maps are newer than the years old maps in the '14's are you able to port those over to the '14 software for us? -since it looks like HERE has no intention anytime soon of updating things.

THANKS!

I am not 100% certain on this but I think the dealer has to do something with the new unit so it can talk to your truck.

Not sure about the rest of your question.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I'm about to install my silver package, with both front and rear view cameras. I've spent an hour looking for and at install videos, but can't see any on the physical installation of the Customtronix harness. Before I pull everything apart, I would like to know if the new harness is a replacement for the existing one, or plugs "in series" with it.
Can someone point me to instructions, or tell me from experience?
Secondly, is there an ignition switched 12v line in the harness, or elsewhere at the back of the unit, that I can use to provide power to the camera?
Thanks,
Russell

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Hey Russell,

This might help:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...okee%20SRT.pdf

Not for the RAX (Coastal Tech), but pretty much the same approach for the physical install. Plenty of vids around for the software install.

Harness is in series with existing wiring - Ctronix harness plugs into unit, existing wiring plugs into Ctronix harness - this will be obvious when it is exposed.

I have the silver and no power for the camera in mine....you need to tap for power somewhere (ideally switched with ignition) - many tap into existing plug outlet in the middle. Not sure if they have changed the harness.....someone else might be able to help here.....

Feel free to post some pix and let us know how you did yours.....

Cheers,

Fab

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Thanks Fab, that's very helpful. Interestingly, from the description of the front camera install in that document, the Coastal harness and hardware seems to pick up 12v from somewhere on the existing harness.
Thanks,
Russell

How did you go Russell?

Also - what was the additional rear cam for? Where did you mount it? I've been toying with this idea......

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Ok, I installed the Silver package a couple months ago. I also got the roll back software from Magnus.

Now, I just tried rolling back. I took the rollback software he sent me and extracted with winrar to a usb drive. Then installed it on the radio.

But it seems to have done nothing.

I still have the cargo cam option.

I know I have read this forum alot about it, but have yet to find a set of instructions that shows exactly what to do.

I have service in the AM, so trying to rollback today.
