Did you do a factory reset?

Going slowly
I think I will have an autoelectrician do the cable runs - I know one who appears to know a lot about the JGC's. I want him to do a brake controller anyway, and run power to the towbar for a new camper trailer we're getting in a couple of months. He should know the best place to pick up the 12v.
The rear camera will be mounted on the rear of the camper trailer, and I want to use it as a rear vision camera, not just reversing. Hence the use of the lockpick, rather than switching into the car's rear camera.
The front camera is also a bit of an issue. I have an ARB bull bar, which I expect will partly obscure the image if it's mounted in the grill. But there's no obvious way to mount it on the bar itself. I want it mainly to see the ground immediately in front of the car on 4wd tracks rather than just cars ahead and when parking.
I'll post how it all comes together, but it will be a while yet - I need to get extra tabs welded onto the towbar for the camera and Anderson plugs first.
Thanks,
Russell

No I have not done a factory reset yet, as I have seen different ways to do this, also heard of someone doing this without the factory reset and losing all your settings.

I am trying to figure out thebest way to do it.

I can not even get the new uconnect website to let me download a fresh copy of the original version

I did a rollback without a factory reset, and the dealer told me he was unable to connect his computer to my Uconnect because it had an unrecognisable version installed. Magnus told me to do a factory reset. I haven't been back to the dealer yet to check this out. It IS a PIA to lose all the settings.
Check out the Uconnect threads - some members post the factory versions on other download sites to avoid the hassles with the official uconnect site.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

my rollback software from magnus has a tokens folder, whicj is empty, and i read you did not need a token, it has

INSTALL-ONE-JAILBREAKER-14.25.5019-NA

swdl
swdl-fo

it acts like it is doing a rollback, through 11 steps or so, but never does anything even after getting into the engineering mode (holding drivers side temp up and down buttons) and selecting factory reset defaults.

I can not even get a real version from uconnect to take effect if I trty to install the factory version over magnus' version, like I have read some have done. It never recognizes the one file from the factory download (swdl)

If you do a rollback you have to do a reset, then the u connect reboots and you are finish.
If you want to deinstall any options you have just to put only your Token file on a USB stick and put it in your car.
Then you can in or deinstall any options.

But my rollback is not rolling anything back. Then I do a factory reset, and everything is just like I did nothing, and I am still using the Jailbreak software again, not the factory software

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

Why do you want to deinstall the jailbreak?
Just to go for the service?
Then just use the token to deinstal the cargo cam or any other option.

And if you want to deinstal the jailbreak ask Magnus for a new rollback, I am sure it works, I did it more times.

But now I only use the token to add or remove cargo cam or set options, etc, it is easy and quick.

Because I was told and/or read, that with out the proper roll back and factory reset, that the dealer will see the software is not original and can not do anything to it.

Re: new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I want to thank Magnus, for his quick and multiple responses this morning as we figured out the problem.

It turns out that I was accidentally sent the wrong rollback file, and it was actually an update file, this is the reason I could not rollback.

Once we/he figured that out, the rollback worked just like I thought it should.

For future reference, the file for my rollback actually has the name "rollback" in the file name. My original rollback file did not have that.

Magnus is top notch when it comes to customer service. He has helped me on more than one occasion.
