I also have the RB2 V10.00.11 and I can't get anywhere. I've tried it on CD, DVD, memory stick, with and without folders, engine on, engine off, engine running, radio off, radio on. It reads the files then nothing.

I read the PDF about what it fixes, I'm more interested in the change to the graphics. Right now, my 430n is working pretty good and I like the"original" Garmin graphics. I was wondering if this update just changes the Garmin splash screen or does it change the graphics when you are in navigation mode?
Once again, thanks for the info.

Can someone give instructions on how to do this update myself? Thanks!

So I had a scheduled appointment this morning at the dealer to have this update installed. Wish I'd have seen this thread prior to going in. It took them an hour and a half to tell me they didn't have the disc and they'd have to order it

Came back home and saw this thread. Burned the disc and had it installed all in under 30 minutes. And the best thing is I didn't have to go back and deal with the clowns at the dealership. Thanks Sox!

After the update. I like the new looks. Much less cartoon like.

Did it updatr just your nav screen or did it do anything for the radio screen too?

Sent from my Galaxy S3
No, radio screen is still the same. You can see the blue showing on the bottom. No change. Just appears to be the nav screens.

Hmmm, downloaded the zip file, extracted, burned CD. Did the upgrade. Minor panic after it processed the update 100%, rebooted, and came up to the Enter Security Code screen. Could not do anything. Could not extract the CD. Gave up, turned off the 430N, turned off the Jeep and went inside. About an hour later I went out to make a run and when I turned the radio on it came up, defaulted to AM. Hit SAT and it was working. Hit NAV and had maps. Everything seemed to be working.

Made my run and when I started home I punched HOME on the NAV and it started routing me home. Everythign hunky dory. While going down the road I decided to take a short cut which would normally result in a "recalculating". As I made the turn the map hesitated, screen went blank, came up to a black screen with Garmin while the unit rebooted. Map came back with "Calculating 99%" and froze. Remained that way all the way home. BACK button did not work. Hide NAV still worked and the radio screen was okay but even after turning the vehilce off removing the key and turning it back on it was still stuck at "Calculating 99%".

Turned it off, went in the house and waited about an hour. Went out, turned key to ACCY, turned the 430N on and hit the NAV. It was at the Garmin boot up screen and in a second or two the map came up and the "Calculating" was gone and everything looked normal.

I guess my unit gets really pissed of you don't follow her routing instructions.

Will somebody else try routing and then make an off route turn and see if they get a recalculating or a lock up.

That's weird. I'll try it tomorrow.

And it's consistent too. Just went out and routed back home, made the same off route turn and after a few seconds it rebooted and the map came back and was locked up at "Calculating 99%". Speed was locked up at 42 MPH. Did a hide NAV and the radio buttons all still worked, Menu still works, Travelink came up but could not tell if was getting the GPS feed for locating fuel stations or not.

Just tried mine this morning. It rerouted just fine.

"Just tried mine this morning. It rerouted just fine."

I guess I had a bit fall through the bit bucket somewhere. I have no idea of what to do now.

Took a longer drive this AM and did some intentional rerouting. It did the reboot thing and "Calculating 99%" three times but did not lock up. When I hit a stretch with no upcoming side streets in finally came back and told me to turn left 1 mile ahead. I was able to hit the back button and Cancel the route. However, when coming back using Home it did the reboot thing and locked up again.

I did apply the Navteq 2013 map update a few days before doing the software update so I wonder if the new maps have anything to do with it.

That's really weird. Where'd you get the Navteq update from? Wouldn't mind updating mine.

So your radio screen is black now too? Mine is unchanged after the update. Still blue, while my new nav is black.

Just a quicky on the Navteq 2013 map udate. I haven't done a lot of driving around yet with the new maps but it seems like there are some more detail and new features. Seems like I am seeing more side streets that were not there before, more multi-lane indicators when approaching a turn, and when I came back down I-520 the other day while running the route Home, when I got to the exit off of the interstate an actual photo of the interstate popped up with an arrow pointing to the exit. I'm taking a 500 mile round trip on Monday/Tuesday so I will know more when I get back.

Another clue on my rebooting/locking up problem on reroute. Apparently this is only happening on my saved favorites that were saved with Lat/Lon, as was my Home. I live rural and the house is 1200 feet from the road so when I marked Home it was with Lat/Lon. I deleted Home, drove to the road and remarked home by Street Address (which is 6 house numbers off on the map). Then I tried the same experiment as before and when I took the off route turn the unit rerouted with no problem.

I then went back home and deleted all Favorites. I waited about an hour and went back out and re-entered them all. All that are saved as map recognized Street Address work fine on a reroute. I have 4 saved Favorites that are saved as Lat/Lon. A favorite restaurant which had it's address changed by recent highway contruction, two family cemeteries located on the artillery ranges in the back woods of Fort Gordon GA, and an "off the main drag" campground. All of those Lat/Lon entries cause the multiple reboot/sometimes lock up problem on a reroute. IF it does not lock up the first time with the "Calculating 99%" it will just continue to reboot, show the map with "Calculating" for a few second, and reboot again and again until you turn the car and go in a direction it likes and then it will recover.

Sorry this is so long but it was driving me nuts. I guess I just need to give up and follow the little lady's instructions.

I reported this issue to Garmin about 5 weeks ago. After some back and forth about unit ID, software versions, map versions, etc. and then a 30 day silence, I got this email today after I had queried the status and told them I needed to know if this was a verifed software glitch or a bad unit before the warranty runs out.

"Hello,
Sorry for the delay in response. I hadn’t heard anything until I sent a request in again and from what they’re telling me now this is most likely a software issue so swapping at the dealer will probably not solve the problem. Hopefully this issue will gain some traction now. I have scheduled a reminder for me to email the research team weekly to hopefully keep them going towards a resolution.
Thanks,

So, there DOES appear to be an issue on Rerouting with Favorites saved as Lat/Lon while the ones saved as street addresses work okay. Maybe it's just on some units but I know for sure it is that way on mine after the software update and the Navteq map update.

The 2013 Navteq map upgrade definitely includes more side streets. And when routing across town tonight it popped up actual photos of the lanes with routing arrows at the I-520 West to I-20 West interchange and again at the I-20 exit ramp to my destination. Definitely an improvement over the maps that came with my 2011 Laredo X.

I generally do not spend the money to upgrade GPS maps but the ones that came with my 2011 were way out of date already when the car was new. I am satisfied with the improvement I got with this upgrade.
