New tweeters in factory sail panel. Audiofrog

I know most people would rather drop in and go when it comes to speakers, so I thought I'd share.

I just installed the Audiofrog GB10 in my sails with just a little trimming. They almost look like they were made just for the WK2s...

Chrome ring accents the interior perfectly. And they sound pretty amazing. Very detailed and @ 90db efficiency, it doesn't take much power to get them loud.

At 90db I'm sure they're very bright compared to the stockers.

Great job with the install! 👍🏻

Thanks, they're definitely brighter than the stock. I have 110 watts going to them
And they can reach unbearable levels. Had to tone them down quite a bit.

Re: New tweeters in factory sail panel. Audiofrog

Greetings,

For those who do not know about Audiofrog, many of the top people came from the JBL Mobile Division. Many say their designs are similar to JBL's in philosophy, but they are not. They even have soft dome tweeters as the OP installed. It is were JBL should have been at this point except that the new management group over at Harman is still being ______ (fill-in the blank). They even coming out with various DSP units, but, do not look for a LOGIC 7 codec in their since Harman owns that technology.

To date, I have not hear them, but from the reviews they are an interesting product. Audiofrog is something to consider if you are upgrading.

Best for now.

Yes, a lot of years of combined experience in the founders of Audiofrog....Andy wehmeyer and Gary Biggs.

I'll be running the GB10 tweeter, GB25 2.5" midrange and the GB12 12" subwoofer.

The GB25 is a very compact full range. I'll be putting them in the A-Pillars.

The sub...

All will be powered by class AB ground zero amps.

I've only heard the Tweeters and sub on these amps so far. They are vary natural, realistic sounding speakers. I've yet to do much tuning so I can report back once I get everything dialed in.

I think you could run these off the factory amp with good results. Oem tweeters are 6 ohm and these are 4, so they would draw a little bit more power. And being 90 db efficient, they don't need a ton of power to get loud. With 110 watts going to them, I had to attenuate them so much, it's almost a waste of power but I love how they sound. And that's coming from a pair of HAT L1 pros. These get the nod in terms of detail

Re: New tweeters in factory sail panel. Audiofrog

Bradknob - Any update? I am doing an audiofrog GB install in my 2011 Overland and have a couple questions:

1) Did the GB60s fit in the doors without modification to the original door/trim/etc? I know I will need the 6" speaker mounting plate to fit the 6x9 hole but did they fit otherwise? Crutchfield is telling me the mounting height is too high...

2) How did you end up doing the GB25s in the A pillars? I'd love to do the same thing but not sure how costly it will be to get them in the A pillars and how it will look. If you have pics that would be awesome.

3) Did you keep the factory head unit and install a DSP? I already replaced the factory system with a Pioneer 4100nex. Now I'm trying to decide if I should just run passive with the $399 AF crossovers or take that money and put it in a Helix DSP...

If you can please try to answer the first two questions soon that would be a big help. I'm planning to order my gear in the next few days.

Thanks and jam on!

I plan on ordering

Hey man,

I'm not running the GB60, yet, but according to the specs, they're 2 3/4" which is 1/2" deeper than the stereo integrity TM65 I'm running (with no modifications to the door panel), and those had plenty of room behind them. I can't imagine the GB60 being too deep.

The GB25 pillars...

And yes I kept the factory head unit and am running a helix dsp pro. I would highly recommend going the dsp route over a pair of $500 passive crossovers.

I have a much more in depth build log here...

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the quick reply Bradknob. I am ordering the GB60 and GB10s tonight. I'll let you know how the GB60s go in. Maybe I'll do the GB25s down the road. I am so jealous of your A-pillars! You have mad fabrication skills. I don't... I thought about just dropping one GB25 in the center channel location. I thought if I use the Helix and set that up as a center channel it my sound good. Let me know what you think if you have a chance...

I'm still getting through your other post on diymb... Thanks so much for sharing this valuable info! Really helps others...

FYI - I already put two 12" FiQ subs in the spare tire well with a Rockford 3000T. It slams... I'll try to provide a photo once the false floor is finished...
