Re: New Uconnect Firmware

I just saw this new update when I checked UConnect (as I've done frequently over the last year). Is there a change log available for this one? Guess I'll install it tonight and see what quits working...

Re: New Uconnect Firmware

Just updated mine a couple minutes ago. Changelog said something about improved VR response, fixed a few glitches, better HD radio reception if I remember right. I'm new to Jeep, so bear with me.

Let's assume I had no idea what a usb thumb drive was and I was completely computer illiterate, but my neighbor told me he updated his Jeep radio recently and it was much better. So I go to the dealership and ask about an update. If I don't say there are problems that the update "addresses", they won't load it for me? Even under warranty? Trying to figure out these TSB's and RRT's. That really seems crappy. Do the uConnect radios update OTA ever?

No they don't you need to put the file on a USB stick and insert it into your media hub usb port in the car's console. Then a message pops up saying the verison number and asking if you want to proceed with the upgrade. Hit yes and let it sit for 10 min updating. Once it starts back up it will scan for the usb stick again and show you your version number is the same as the one on the usb asking if you want to upgrade again to the same version you just upgraded to. Since you know both versions match (car and usb stick) you can hit NO don't upgrade and remove the stick.

then you are all done .

I have never had a charge for having my dealer upgrade my Uconnect.

Looks like the mentioned security fix is a big one - Chrysler's Uconnect Vulnerable To Remote Hacking, But Don't Panic Yet*

Re: New Uconnect Firmware

I just tried to do this on my 2015 Overland and couldn't.

Every time I inserted the USB drive, a Pop Up error message appeared. It said there were Multiple USB devices detected and in order for the update to continue, I had to remove all other devices to proceed.

The problem is that there ARE NO other USB devices inserted!

I checked, double checked, and triple checked. Nothing inserted into the dash inputs or anywhere else.

I think I know what the problem is. The vehicle is detecting the Rear DVD/Blue-ray Entertainment as an input source. But there is no way for me to "unplug" it!

So my only choice is to waste over an hour at the dealership getting this update done (their timeframe estimate).

did you have an sd card or audio cord plugged in?

the 'media hub' with the usb port/sd card/audio jack is actually a usb hub of sorts. It plugs into a mini usb cable. So an sd card or audio cable might connect through another 'usb device' in the hub according to the software.

Another problem might be with the USB drive itself. Some USB drives are partitioned so they can carry software that you cannot erase. I have a Sandisk USB drive that has a portion that shows up as the U3 System and has programs that autoload on Windows systems.

Good luck.

Try the soft reboot. Hold Mute and Browse for 5 sec. You should see the system rebooting. Try to insert the USB again.
Rear dvd has nothing to do with it.
