Re: Opinions on '11-'12 Overland's subwoofer

I would rather have a paper plate than mega-watts of boom-boom-boom making me deaf and bringing joy to the whole neighborhood.

MW's = 1,000,000's

kW's = 1,000's

I only have a couple of Kilo-Watts to enjoy. You also forgot about the ear bleeding mids and highs too... The bass has a lower frequency, thus a longer wave length. Most people only feel their guts and house rattle when I go by, they miss the all of the vocals, making my ears bleed. Read my sig above

Boomy, Ghetto Bass is easy. Tuning an entire truck with that much power with a RTA and trying to acheive a flat curve takes effort. Sorry to offend people with my little system. If you heard it, you would appreciate it.

To remain on topic, the factory sub is a waste of breath to even talk about. I am convinced there is more bass from my front stage 6x9's in the 2012 than there is in the rear coming from the sub.

I plan on a major stereo overhaul in my jeep soon. I will make sure not to post pics in case I offend even more people.

PS - I will post a video when I get done bulding the paper plate and napkin sub! (it will need copper for the VC and bobbin and a magnet too)

What you do with your radio, in your Jeep is your personal business and you are entitled to set it up any way that pleases you. You can also post all the pictures you want and I'm sure no one will be offended. Just don't come down my street and rattle my house. That is not your right to do and is quite inconsiderate.

The Subwoofer in the OEM is pretty unobtrusive. It is intended to provide a pleasant, and full sound. In a well integrated music system the sub should not be heard, but just fill out the experience.

For those wanting all the thump, you can use audio controls to turn down the highs, and accentuate the bass to fit your needs.

Many wish to just crank up the bass so they can run with all the windows down and anoy those around them on the street, believing this makes them cool and important.
+1. It doesn't rattle at "normal" volume and blends well with other speakers (I have 430N but I think speakers are the same as on 730). It's good enough for me, but I am not picky at all about my car sound system. As soon as it doesn't distort and rattle at "normal" volume I am fine.

On the other hand I also agree with what Moose is saying.
