Re: Overland stereo upgrade and other pics

Bringing this back to life as I'm about drop some coin on a 14 GC Overland V8 Granite and want to immediately improve the sound. I love your selection of equipment. How is life with the system now and have made any other changes other than the ones you mentioned? Also, how easy did those Focal tweeters fit in the front door and did you have any depth issues when installing the Focal 6.5's?

Focals fit in the doors, no problem. I decided to replace the rears and dash speaker since original post. I'm sure there are other setups that also sound great, but I absolutely love the sound I now have in my Jeep. Here is the shizzle:

Focal IS165 in front doors
Focal 165A1SG in rear doors
Alpine SPR10TW tweeters in rear pillars
Kicker DS35 in dash
JL XD4004 amp
Kenwood X5001 amp
LC6i converter
JL stealthbox sub

BTW, for anybody in SoCal, I got all my gear for quite a bit less than what I see advertised on places like Crutchfield, Amazon, etc. For example, paid $450 OTD for Stealthbox. PM me for info on the place in OC if interested.

Thanks.

Where were these front tweeters located?? In the front pillars or did you place them somewhere else?? What's the improvement in sound from before with the stock system?

Front tweeters go right where the stocks were. Hard to quantify the improvement in sound, since it's subjective. I'd rate the Overland stock sound at a 6 out of 10. I'd rate my new setup as a 10+. Doesn't matter what kind of music you like, it can jam it all at high volumes. I happen to like the Black Keys, and with all the bass in their music, I can make my car shake and it still sounds clear and tight.... if I wanted to roll down the street that way. And sometimes I do.

As I mentioned on page 1 and 4 of this thread, I put Alpine tweeters in the rear pillars. Not much to show since the pics I originally posted... would be pictures of the rear door and dash looking the same as stock, because the speakers are not visible after install.

Let me ask you though, does splicing wires to
Make all this work in anyway affect the warranty of the vehicle should something electrical occur or was that something you just weren't worried about?
