Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

Really want to do this swap as well. On another post Nikon858 has a picture of the replacement bin he purchased. The only obvious difference is that I see his lower section is metal while the link to Tasca is plastic. And the other one came with a light harness but no way to connect it apparently

Other than that.

So did anyone ever get a light wired into this after they replaced the bin. You would need some kind of button to be wired in so that when the lid is closed the light is off. Otherwise it would be on all the time.

Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

When i had my GC in for a service i asked about the bin without the cd player and they told me it will cost $499. Might need to ring around and get other prices.

I'd never go back to that dealer again

that's like 3-4 times MSRP and 5 times the price you can find on the net.

Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

This is in Australia all dealers will give that amount. Like a member posted in first couple of pages i will be getting it from allmoparparts.com only $91 but the shipping would be the most and all up half the price of what we can get here. Pretty sure all GC in aus come with the cd player as standard and no optin to remove it.

Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

I didn't pay for mine either (credited whatever $$$). I very rarely use it. I have large thumb drives with tons of music. There is quite a difference in sound quality though. I would love to get the space back but would also like to have the CD player. Has anyone thought of moving it under the drivers seat, accessed from the front? I know the battery is under the pass. seat and now can't remember if there is anything under the driver's seat that really needs to be accessed regularly, although I seem to remember something under there??? Maybe under the center rear would work??? ANYONE???

That will come down to the quality of your copies. I played a few tracks on a couple of CDs and compared to the AAC 320kbps rips and I couldn’t notice a different. Not surprising considering how poor the music system is.

For those with Quadra Lift, they have the pumps for the air suspension under there.

Mine won't play (recognize) anything above 192kbps, at least not in WMA, mp3 or mp4. Is AAC a format? Cause I tried WAV and lossless too. And your correct poor music system. Why would Alpine put their name on this?

Thanks, knew I saw something under there when I was vacuuming
I'll take a good look see under there this weekend. "I" might be the guy moving it there or someplace...LOL.

Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

AAC: Advanced Audio Coding
It is more efficient than MP3, so loses less of the detail or something like that. All of mine are in 320kbps and play fine. Even the MP3s I have are in 320kbps. I haven’t finished re-ripping everything into AAC yet, so I know I have MP3s in there.

Re: Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

Really just want to know if I replace my CD player if the tray will have the USB port that can be used to connect to the radio.

Does this happen?

Thanks
