Well, my tongue was firmly in cheek. Yet, junkies there do steal almost anything short of used kleenex tissues. I've lost two prescription glasses and a set of car radio knobs from break-ins, plus a hood ornament pried off and a stolen car. If the wire's copper, they'd probably take it!
That's part of why we live happily in the boonies now, Jeep and all.
the hardest part was taking off the center console (at mirror). I had to grab the portion nearest the windshield, pry the plastic down and just keep pulling. eventually it pops off. makes a loud sound, i thought i broke the freaking thing.
pull the 16 pin conductor off the center console. i used the bottom left (i cant remember the color) and criped the radar dector wire to the entry wire into the 16 pin harness.
there is a screw in the center of the console after you remove the plastic that goes into the roof of the jeep. i used that for the ground.
turned power on radar, mounted radar, then finsihed.
i should have taken pictures but didnt think about it until i was finished.
I used a 12" Invisicord and it was the best $16 I've spent in a while. No deconstruction and no tapping into wires. I was going to make my own but the pins on the mirror connector need the thin, flat tab and I didn't have any connectors handy. I tried to use a cord I made with a paperclip end soldered on but it was too thick for this connector.
looks good. I got mine tapped into rearview mirror on my WJ and have it on the passenger side. I wish I woulda gotten the invisicord like mjw930, but I ended up splicing into the wires
I did the same thing, I had bestbuy install it, and very next day that I took delivery of the vehicle. I hate wires being seen or not a clean install...
I am about to do the same thing thanks for the pic. I was wondering where I wanted to mount it and that looks like a good place. I checked in to a blendmount but it wouldn't work because of the rain sensor and the mirror stem on the '12 Overland being above the mirror.
Just installed got the 8" version of the micro, definitely get the micro ends as they are tight to get into the harness. I should have gone longer as I thought I'd have enough to go to the drivers side but was too short a couple of inches. I have it mounted on the passenger side now and I think I kind of like it. I am on my phone right now and don't have the link.
Sorry for the bad images got dark quick when I got home.
