Re: Pioneer AVH-X1500 Receiver install pics

is there anyway you could get the USB cable from the back of the unit to come out through the storage compartment under the hvac controls without needing to cut some holes?

No. Just get a knife and heat it to cut a small hole.

Re: Pioneer AVH-X1500 Receiver install pics

Went to the casino this morning and hit pretty big. took that money and immediately bought this head unit except I got the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS.. Below are the pictures of the wiring kits that they gave me for the install. The steering wheel control one looks to be correct, but is the other one the correct wiring harness? Is this all the wiring that I need to do the install? went to 4 different stores and not one of them had the dash kit so im still waiting for that to come through the mail.

Re: Pioneer AVH-X1500 Receiver install pics

Hmmmmm We've all used the PAC RP4-CH11 adapter to hook up an aftermarket headunit to the Jeep's CAN bus. The RP4-CH11 also integrates the steering wheel controls. Never heard of the Axxess adapter you have there.

Re: Pioneer AVH-X1500 Receiver install pics

That's what I was afraid of. I knew I shouldn't have listened to the people at best buy. Im just gonna return these two kits and get the PAC RP4-CH11 adapter. Once I get that Ill be good to go right?

Re: Pioneer AVH-X1500 Receiver install pics

You'll need the following:

PAC RP4-CH11
Dash kit
Antenna adapter

Oh, you'll also need a dremel to cut out part of the inner dash to fit the headunit. Don't worry you don't see this inner dash once the trim is back on.

For this antenna adapter, this ok?
Antenna Adapter Works with select 1999-up vehicles (Motorola male to OEM antenna female) at Crutchfield.com

rdub96 is on a distinguished road
I just installed the AVHx3500 and love it! I used the PAC harness as others did and it works great. Here's a helpful hint: I reprogrammed the steering wheel control source button (middle button on right) to change the band instead of source. By default, On the pioneer when scrolling thru radio presets , you can only scan through six at a time with the SWC. Then you have to touch the screen and change to the next band of presets. This is distracting while driving so I reprogrammed the source button to change bands. Now I can scroll thru all 18 presets without having to take my eyes off the road
