I have a Uconnect 8.4 NAV on a 2016 JGC. I just started experimenting with piping the audio from Google Maps navigation through the car audio via Bluetooth. I immediately noticed that the first second or so *always* gets truncated.
The result is that instead of hearing "In a quarter mile, turn right onto...", I hear "...turn right onto...". So vital information is being lost on every announcement.
Is this a bug of Uconnect, or is it an Android or Bluetooth issue?
I use Google Maps via bluetooth as well and seems to work great as long as I have the head unit set to 'bluetooth' for audio streaming. If I set the head unit to fm or am it will try to cut back over to bluetooth and does cut off the prompts. Not sure if this is what you have going on?
ALSO some things I have found that help:
-In your google maps app set your prompt voice to high
-Turn off the cars navigation voice prompts and you can use the cars navigation visual along with Google maps for the better audio (not perfect but helps because I can't stand the voice recordings from the factory were clearly done in two different windows 95 voices ha)
FWIW, I use WAZE on my Samsung/Android S6 cell phone in place of the built in nav maps. Wonderful app with lots of information shown on the screen. I get a kick out of using its Colonel Sanders voice for audible directions.
This happens in all cars... The only way its not truncated over bluetooth is if you are already listening to bluetooth audio from the phone doing also doing the navigating. If no active music is being played there is a lag time in the connection to bluetooth for each individual direction otherwise.
