Question on HAT speakers for 2014 GC

Question about the HAT speakers for a 2014 GC with 9 speaker system:

I emailed HAT directly and asked them for speaker recommendations.

They said, "My suggestion would be Imagine 6x9 in the doors, and Legatia L3V2 in the dash. Then Imagine 6.5s in the rear doors, if you wish"

The L3V2 was an interesting pick - what do you think?

I think I will use an LC7i (I cant find anyone who knows how to setup the MS8) amp, and stealthbox.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Re: Question on HAT speakers for 2014 GC

There is someone that did a complete setup with the MS8 and a 3sixty.3. I forget the screenname but hopefully someone can chime in. I believe he used them as well.

Too many mods to list for each, so let's just say a lot was done over the years.

I've got the Imagine 6.9 and 6.5's without amplification and a Polk center speaker. It's better than stock but need amplification, I need to take the next step.

Re: Question on HAT speakers for 2014 GC

Hey 1stJeepGC, I was hoping you would reply. I read about your setup. I want to spend enough. but my expectation is about 3k total for equipment for clear quality sound

I want to keep ex head unit, replace all speakers, add 1 lc7i (or equiv) and 1 amp, replace sub. I thought I had the speakers figured out until HAT said 6x9 for front and L3V2 in the dash... center speaker will run off old amp for phone only. still thinking about rear pillar speakers-may not replace, but could add tweats to rear doors.

so still looking for best speakers pick for SQ in that budget

Re: Question on HAT speakers for 2014 GC

Greetings,

IMHO, for the rear pillars, if you are not changing the DSP, then do not bother. An aftermarket DSP unit will do more justice and you can save yourself money.

The HAT Stage 2 speakers are very nice for what they are and I think they are exceptional excellent for that price point. HAT Stage 5 and up, you really need application to drive to achieve the right response out of them. The L3V2 for the center is a excellent choice, however, keep mind the settings for the front stage is still based off the factory DSP so might thing that something is off. For the rear doors, I also went with the L3V2 as you have read. I think with your case it might be better to bump up to the Stage V L4 since you are not changing the back.

I would not run with any passive crossovers in this setup since you have to deal with the factory DSP settings and I do not see any advantage for to use it for the front speakers. Based on this, I would look into the JL Audio XD 800/8 v2 to drive the HAT's and what ever mono amp for the sub. Since you will be doing a straight speaker swap, you will intercepting the speaker lines and connecting into the aftermarket AMPS with a High-Low convertor. The need for the LC7 (which is discontinued) is not necessary.

XD800/8v2 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - XD - JL Audio

You will have 1 channel doing nothing which is a result of an odd number for speakers. If you want to change out the rear pillar later and improve the DSP, then you have to flow what I did and as you have read, it not cheap.

This might be a little over your budget after the install, but it a very good system and room to expand later.

Best for now.
