Re: Questions about replacing front Tweeters on alpine system.

Found a very good deal (less than half of the price of the Focals) on some Memphis 6x9 comps (PRX69C models), they are 4ohm, 60 rms, and have a rating of 90 dB, the tweeters are poly dome type. Never used or heard memphis speakers or comps so Im a bit worried about the quality of the actual speakers.

Anyone with experience with Memphis speakers?

Re: Questions about replacing front Tweeters on alpine system.

Seriously don't listen to these guys. My infinity reference components in the front and the infinity reference 3.5 coax center channel drop in replacement made a hell of a difference.

Spend the money and install infinity reference 6x9 components in the front that come with the upgraded tweeter for the stock position which made such a big difference.

Also do the 3.5 infinity center channel coax and the rear 6.5 coax with the tweeter boost off and pointed toward the floor of the car on the rears.

I hated this cars alpine system until I let these break in and couldn't believe the difference.

You also have to remember that with this headunit the source matters big time. Sirius or FM sound like shit you need a USB / SD card with high quality or a good Bluetooth source to really enjoy anything out of this system.

Make the 3 changes above you will not regret it. All plug and play (except for the tweeters which need to be spliced into the stock tweeter harness, but it fits behind the stock tweeter grill you can't tell anything is not stock without taking the panels off.

Greetings,

Memphis makes a very good product. IMHO, it is not audiophile material, but it is not cheap entry level products either. I am not sure who makes it for them.

The poly dome tweeter is consider soft dome, but not on the same level of a silk based material.

Best for now.

Thanks for the info on the polydome tweeter, so its in between a metallic dome and a silk dome tweeter then?

Im trying out the Memphis marine grade 6x9 speakers in my polaris Ranger crew cab, should have the installed by the end of next week, will have an idea of how they sound. I cant believe how bad the new mbquart line quality is!!! I installed about 14 months ago an MbQuart bluetooth stereo, 5 channel amp, 4-6x9 coaxial speakers for the rear, a pair of 6-1/2 coaxials for the front, and a pair of 10" woofers, all mbquart marine grade. Well the bluetooth stereo doesnt work anymore, looks like it has dust and water inside, all 4 rear 6x9 speakers have the surround and duat cap dried out and broken!!! Cant believe it happened in a year and with the ranger parked in the shade!!! And with less than 50 hours of drive time!!! Thats probably the reason why the coaxials where so cheap...
