Re: RA3 Factory Radio and 6 Speaker Audio Improvement Help

The radio can provide the signal for any setup, be it the 6 speaker, the Alpine or Harmon Kardon. The amplifier is what drives the addtional speakers with the upgraded systems. Getting back to my root question, are wires already ran for easy plug and play? I think the answer is no and the work to run the addtional wires, amplifier and speakers would not be cost effective considering aftermarket options. Sadly had I did more research on the JGC, I would have found this out prior to purchase but it's my wife's vehicle and we originally went to buy a Wrangler JKU which I am extremely familiar with.

The 2016 Infinity reference speakers also work great and are an option for those that don't want to spend all the money on the focals.

Good to hear. Did you install the crossovers as well?

The ISC690"s are not componet speakers, i did not want focal tweeters( little to bright for my taste) I will choose silk dome tweeters when i find some i like.

You DO realize, that the speakers you installed, are "co-axial" speakers, meaning that they already have tweeters, as part of their construction, right?? Therefore, you currently have 4 tweeters in your doors, and if you replace the tweeters in the sail pods with other tweeters, you'll still have 4 tweeters. I'm thinking that your soundstage is REALLY "bright"............

Where the Focal speakers differ greatly from the OE speakers, beside overall quality and materials, is in their efficiency. The Focals are among the most efficient car speakers out there, so they don't need a huge amount of power to sound really good.

Do the tweeters fit in the same spot as stock ones?

Yes, they do, with a little "light sanding" on the opening in the Jeep's sail panel trim piece. As packaged, the Focal tweeters are in one of the two "housings" that are provided with the set-up. You remove the tweets from these housings, and after you enlarge the openings in the OE trim piece, the Focal tweets will firmly press into place.

Sounds like a good route to go, thank you.
