Radio default is always "ON"

Hey Guys (gals):
New member. I have a new 2015 JGC with the Uconnect 8.4 dashboard panel. Even when the radio is turned off before turning off the engine, the radio will come on about 5 seconds into the next engine start. I would like to turn this default to off so the radio operates only when the driver turns the radio on. I have looked at the manual, and fiddled with the screen but cannot seem to get this done.

No such luck unfortunately.

The radio is ALWAYS on and there is no way to actually turn it OFF.

The best we can currently do is turn the volume all the way down.

What I do is pair my phone (bluetooth) and select it as my media source. Never plays anything, though it will sometimes display the title of the last browser page which, today, read "Millions of spiders." A tad odd.

I love my Overland, but this oddity with the stereo is a huge misstep on Jeep's part.

Re: Radio default is always "ON"

It is physically impossible to have the radio default to the off position in the current generation WKs. The radio is an integral part of the HVAC system as well.

It is frustrating that you can't turn the radio off.

The other annoying thing is if you have an iPod hooked up through USB even if you stop it playing before you turn off the vehicle it will start playing again when you start up.

Same thing goes for thumb drives and SD cards.

It's really annoying.

I can't understand why they can't allow the ability to turn the music off completely. The options seem to be to either turn down the volume or just pause music, though it will only stay that way with a phone - and as long as the app doesn't start back up on reconnect.

Sometimes you're trying to have a conversation, or perhaps the kids are sleeping in the back seat, or maybe you just have a headache or need to be able to concentrate in an unfamiliar neighborhood.

There's every good reason someone might actually want to turn off the noise box.

Re: Radio default is always "ON"

Is it that difficult to turn the volume to zero?
