Random Pixel on EVIC, Back UP Camera Issues at 103 Degrees F

I have a 14 Overland. Aug 13 build date. I have a random pixel that comes on the EVIC. In order to get the pixel to show up I have to be using the digital speedometer. I keep my EVIC on the Tire pressure screen, but I can reproduce this on any of the screens. The pixel is illuminated when moving the transmission from P to R then to D. While the pixel is on, I can move the EVIC Screens using the UP and Down arrows and the pixel remains. on some screens pressing the left and right arrows refreshes the screen and wipes the pixel until I do a P to R to D shift. Has anyone seen this or can anyone else reproduce this? The Dealer and Factory Rep has reviiewed my car and have to idea. Even after an instrument cluster replacement, I still have the issue.

Additionally, While visiting Palm Springs on a 103 Degree F day, my back up camera lines disappeared and the image looked like an infrared image. I haven't been back into a high temperature area since, so I don't know if this is chronic. Have any of you out there living in the desert climates seen this before? Of course the dealer is unable to reproduce the situation and my video of this didn't help them diagnose a problem.

Thank you,

Ron

I've discovered the same problem in the EVIC on my Limited Diesel. It always happens when shifting out of reverse. More info in this thread:

Pixel on dash

Did you end up taking yours to the dealer?

Re: Random Pixel on EVIC, Back UP Camera Issues at 103 Degrees F

I've had my car in and out of the dealer for a variety of reasons since April. They've been able to take care of everything but this pixel issue. 2 factory techs have seen the car and report that they will get with engineering and report back, but that never happens. I've opened a case with Chrysler, they've promised to get me an answer to what i'm seeing, but still nothing. Finally, my case manager gets a third tech to come out and report that everything I'm seeing is normal, yet they tell the service manager and director that they are aware of the problem and they may fix it in a future cluster module update. My opinion is that the the screen is not erasing all of the letters that are displayed when in reverse. If you look at the area where the pixel is, it overlaps the ready sense ready wording. It looks like the programmer for got to refresh the screen to the bottom of the text. Now why no one else on here is seeing this baffles me. Unless, there is a problem in the cars fiber optic network.

Can anyone please put their car on the digital speedometer, evic on tire pressure. make sure nothing is parked behind you to trigger backup sensors. Then put foot on brake, shift into reverse, then into drive. do you get the random pixels?

Thank you

Ok. I went through the drill (a sequence of actions I probably never do in my daily driving routine), and no random pixels. Tried it three times, same result.

Yup. That's exactly how it goes. One guy wrote to the Uconnect folks over in this thread Pixel on dash

Re: Random Pixel on EVIC, Back UP Camera Issues at 103 Degrees F

Normally a problem such as this is a dead pixel on the display screen itself. Seeing it on one screen and not another could mean that pixel is not being used on one and is on another. Have seen similar on digital cameras. Fix for them is to replace the screen. My 2014 does not have it.

Re: Random Pixel on EVIC, Back UP Camera Issues at 103 Degrees F

Thank you for everyone who tried to get the pixel to light up.

I run my EVIC on digital speedometer and tire pressure gauge normally, so I see this pixel every time I back up then drive off.

I've had the Cluster replaced and the pixel remained in the same place under the same circumstances. It seems to be a problem somewhere else.

The factory is telling me this is normal behavior, because they don't want to own this issue. The dealer is telling me the factory is aware of the issue, and may fix it in the future. Thats a big maybe, and seeing as it doesn't seem to be a huge number of car exhibiting this, it's probably going to be forgotten.
