Rear Seat BluRay

Question for anyone who has the new rear seat blu-ray.

I see on the brochure that the passenger seat has inputs for HDMI/Comp. Does the Drivers have them too so each screen is independent for inputs?

Thanks
Chris

Re: Rear Seat BluRay

I actually planned on getting an overland with it that was on the lot. But after seeing how much space the monitors took away from the rear seat (they make the seat backs thick and we still have a rear-facing infant seat), as well as the loss of 75% of the center console space I took a pass. We don't have a large DVD library, and when our son gets old enough to watch I think I'll buy all his media digitally for an iPad.

The headrests are perfect to mount a proclip iPad mount.

But the picture on the monitors was great and you can't beat the OEM look!

One of my best boating buds has two small boys...
Two iPads with head rest mounts is much cheaper and easier to 'upgrade' as time goes on.
He had an Expedition with the onboard DVD player and went to a RAM crew cab and opted for just the basic radio and bought the second iPad.

Most 'in car entertainment' systems are outdated before they even hit the dealer lot.

Re: Rear Seat BluRay

Could someone with the new DVD/Blu-ray Rear Seat Entertainment system post some pictures? I haven't been able to find a dealer with one the check it out.

I'd like to see how much room it takes up and looks. Could you also post pics of the center arm rest storage area?

Thanks

Re: Rear Seat BluRay

Check out Koons Jeep in Tysons Corner, VA online. They have great photos of their inventory and have several Overlands with the BD player in stock. I test drove one. None of the center console that I remember though.

For photos of that, try searching and/or asking for pix of the CD player. It's the same thing externally. I believe it's standard on Australian market cars so they should have plenty of pix (and angst!)

Yup, i also opted out from the rear dvd and sometimes ask my self if i made a smart choice. But now that you mention it i also have a rear facing seat and as it is its already hitting the front seat. So makes sense that the monitor would be in the way.

On another note i am considering purchasing that ipad headrest mount. Just recently heard of them so that is an awesome alternative choice.

Re: Rear Seat BluRay

I have them and yes they are bulky and yes the center console is small, but in this vehicle you lose more storage than in any vehicle I have ever seen.. Got rid of a lot of things I thought I really needed.... but really I didn't.
But security wise, nobody is going to steal them very readily from the vehicle and they work great! If you leave you Ipad on the seat backs by mistake, prepare for broken window and stolen Ipads. Those crimes happen everyday in shopping center parking lots in our area....

If you have kids or grandkids that love movies and it keeps em quiet... they are worth every penny.....
