I have a 2012 Laredo. I swapped out the stock stereo and put in a pioneer gps navigation system. If I purchase the jeep camera I can run that to the pioneer.

How is this going? Have you done it yet?

Tech authority shows this Jeep as having all of the requisite wiring to add a backup camera. If this is true, you should be able to buy the camera, install it in the tailgate, and flash the BCM. It looks very simple for you.
Are the export models the same wiring. In Australia, cameras come standard in the Laredo but are dealer fitted. My dealer is telling me there is no wiring for a camera and they have installed some aftermarket rubbish camera. with wiring back to the screen. I would like to know if the wiring is there and if it is a simple matter of plugging in the genuine camera.

Not sure if I'm asking an obvious question, but has anyone spoken to their local dealer to see if this is even possible instead of assuming it is? I agree with all of you, I wanna get it done as well, but the dealer should be able to tell any of us if this is or is not feasible on our vehicles.

I don't know where you are from but most dealers in Australia seem not to know much about this vehicle and tell us all sorts of fibs. They wouldn't know if this can be done until we tell them.

Gotcha, I guess my assumption is if a Jeep dealership sells Jeeps then someone there should know something about it. I live in the US and will probably stop by my local dealership this weekend to get their input.

Let us know. Definitely check for the 5" screen too.

The problem with dealerships, especially in the tristate area, is there are so many people they don't care about spending time to help out a couple customers squeeze value out of a lower model. Their attitude is spend more money on a higher model or stop wasting their time.

Sorry guys for the delay. I stopped in my local dealership and was told it was not possible due to the wiring configuration with the 5" screen. I'm not really confident in the answer due to the uncertainty in the part guy's voice. I might try another dealership to verify, more to follow...

Thanks RJ1185. Did they say anything about the larger 8.4" screen? Can you also ask about that next time. Thanks.

I didn't ask about the 8.4" screen, but I'll bring it up next time.

If that is the case how does the limited get a back up camera with the 5" radio?...

Not sure. Like I said, the guy sounded like he had no clue about it so I'm not really giving up hope quite yet. If the limited has it in the 5" screen option, I'd assume the Laredo should have the same...I'll fill in everyone by next week.
