Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to purchase anyone's extra Polk Audio DB351 and Metra 71-039C harness. Shoot me a PM with your price and preferred method of payment.

Much appreciated.

Does anyone have an extra speaker and wiring harness that they're looking to sell?

Would you (or anyone else) be interested in splitting a set infinitys and harness?

Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

Can anyone confirm that the Metra 71-039C is the same as Metra 72-6514 or if it has another model #. I don't believe crutchfield is the only place that has the this harness. Also is the Metra 72-6514 used on both the front and rear door speakers?

71-039C and 72-6514 are different.

72-6514 works in both front and rear doors.

Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

Which center channel speaker should I get the infinity or the polk?

I see the infinity is 3ohm and the polk is 4ohm. Both with 91db sensitivity. Is the infinity the better choice?

edit nevermind:

Hmmm... saw this on the Crutchfield description of the Infinity speakers:

True Four Ohm Impedance technology: speaker's 3-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load.

This puts the Polk speakers back in play for me. There is no such thing as an ohm of resistance in speaker wire that is 3 feet in length or less. "True 4 ohm impedance" is marketing speak.

Crutchfield has the Infinity's currently priced at $71.99.

More info:

Polk Audio db351 3.5" vs. Infinity REF-3002cfx 3.5"

Specs, if differing:

Polk tweeter composition: silk-polymer composite
Infinity tweeter composition: textile (cloth)
Winner: Polk

Peak power handling/RMS power handling
Polk: 105/35 watts Infinity: 75/25 watts
Winner: Polk

Frequency response
Polk: 90-22,000 hz Infinity: 85-21,000 hz
Winner: Polk (though no one could hear the difference)

Price
Polk: $45.94 (Amazon) Infinity $71.99 (various)
Winner: Polk

I'm going with the polks if someone wants to split a set let me know.

I had been looking at the Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 8" shallow mount sub. The sensitivity is only 86db, but the voice coils are 2ohm like the stock Alpine sub. Not sure which would be better on the stock amp. I would assume the Polk being it has a higher sensitivity rating.

Any updates on this did that guy ever install it?

No, not that I know of. I just wound up adding dynamat to the stock sub box which made a big difference in the overall sound.
