Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

Consider using 6.5 component speakers instead of the coaxials. You can then use the tweeters from them for the A-pillar. I haven't done my Jeep yet but did an Alpine in my Ram replacing them with Kappa's and was very pleased. Of course in both the real weakness is the sub. And of course there isn't a cheap course of action. From all I've read on both vehicles it seems the Stealthbox and an amp are the best solution, however a big step up in $$$$.

Yeah,I think a few folks wanna just change the stock speakers for a totally different sound upgrade and then go from there after playing with that for a while.

Yep. That's exactly the situation I'm in. I don't absolutely hate the Alpine system - I just want some more clarity. I don't even feel like there's a lack of bass. I generally run music from my phone via bluetooth, so I don't need a new head unit for additional EQ options. Anyway, I'll see how I feel after I install what I ordered today.

Send us some pics/videos of the install. What kinds of music do you find yourself listening to?

Yep, will do. I listen to a variety of music but mostly rock/pop/electronic type stuff. My hope is that all the different speakers will arrive this week and I'll drop it off at the local Best Buy for installation next weekend.

I've had Focals in a previous vehicle.

Super bright. Too bright for me. Next aftermarket upgrade will definitely be silk dome.

Best Buy is doing your install, all you're doing is giving them the speakers you want installed?? Any other equipment necessary?

Yep, just giving them what I got and telling them what to install where. I assume if there's any additional parts they will find them. I'm not doing anything crazy like going for component speakers, so shouldn't be that hard. My only concern is if there's going to need to be any modifications to the panel to make the speakers fit.

Yeah that's where a custom shop beats the big box retailer. You're hoping some new employee with 2 weeks on the job isn't training on your car and its panels. 😳

I hear ya. My two options are 1. a place near my work, but concerned they will make me schedule a week or two in advance and charge me an arm and a leg, plus make me drive there in the AM, drive me to work, then pick me up or 2. Best Buy, which just means I drop it off in the AM, walk home and pick it up in a few hours.

I agree that 1 would be better but 2 is just so convenient...

Alright, you've convinced me to at least talk to the place near my work.
