Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

I found a Grand Cherokee Harmon Kardon box online for a little over $100. It houses the 10" sub. I'm going to gut it, use bed liner spray or brush it and make sure its air tight. I plan to put my ScanSpeak 10" in that baby...and some acoustic fill. It will be all stock looking without spending $700 on a Stealthbox.....lmao

I saw that box on eBay. Good luck with it. I hope it makes a good custom box!

Please keep us updated.

Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

I could be blind but I've been looking for a while and cant seem to find a DIY thread on replacing the door speakers. Anyone know if that's been done? I'd love to skim it first to make sure there are no hiccups but otherwise I'll take pics and write one up this weekend when I do my install. Same goes for the sub enclosure.

False alarm, I finally came across this which should suffice. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/interior/201...moval_001E.pdf

Which Scan Illuminator tweeter did you use? The Scan Illuminator D2004/6020-00 tweeter, or one of the other ScanSpeak Illuminator variations?

Pretty much a plu-and-play installation on the 2014 JGC replacing the A Pillar tweeters (once trim is removed)?

FYI, I got the Fountek FR89 center dash speaker this week from Madisound and will be installing tomorrow. (The guys at Madisound are very responsive, good customer service.) Thanks for letting us follow in your audio upgrade footsteps!

Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

I have the larger D3004's. I would say easy enough for most.

Thanks. I'll probably go with those for my next step of audio upgrade, after I get my new Fountek dash speaker installed.

HIGHLY recommend going with a 3/4" tweeter unless you feel like modding the factory panel and housing and are dead set on the new pair you are putting in.

Re: Replaced my 2014 Overland Dash Speaker

I replaced the dash speaker on my 2013 Trailhawk with the 9 speaker audio with this:

MTX TDX35 Thunder Dome Series 3-1/2" 2-way speakers at Crutchfield.com

If you check post #38 of this thread, it is the same speaker with good pictures of the install. It fit with no problems at all. I chose it in particular because it has a relatively high sensitivity rating and lower power requirement, which is good for running off the factory amp signal. Probably don't want to feed it too much power if you decide to power it through a bigger amp.

I got it from Crutchfield who will give you an adapter wiring harness for free that truly makes it a 10 minute, plug and play procedure. Just place the order by phone so that you be sure to ask for this harness:

Metra 71-039 Speaker Wiring Adapters Work with select 1990-up vehicles — connect new speakers to factory wiring plugs at Crutchfield.com

Crutchfield's data base doesn't have info for this dash speaker, so you need to help them with info for the harness/adapter.

I'm no audiophile, but I think there is a marginal improvement. If you fade completely to the front, you can get an idea of the speaker's contribution to the whole sound system.

I'm looking for a leftover speaker as well. Let me know and we can work something out.
