Quick 15 minute job. Replaced with Polk Audio DB351 3.5" speaker. Went with this one because of the 91db sensitivity.

Bottom line...it's worth the minimal money and time. It does not change the overall sound of the system at all, but the increase in bluetooth phone conversation sound is worth every penny.

They came with bass blockers, but I installed it without it because the factory amp should block enough bass with its crossover points.

I still have a speaker left if anyone is interested. $25 shipped. $20 for anyone in MA who wants to pick it up. Live in Upton, work in Newton.

That is right what I am looking for! Is it clearer? More details for a deaf guy (volume is good just sometimes figuring out if the letter is a d or a g is hard) please:)

Greetings,

However, whenever you upgrade to an additional processor and play with the phasing, time alignment and some eq, I bet you will say it changed the overall sound quality.

Best for now.:)

I got one of those Polks from Ants818 when he offered it up and I have to say that it does brighten the Highs and the mids coming from the center channel but I am still trying to figure out how to sharpen the mids that are being produced by the awful 6X9's in the door.

At first I used to think the system in the laredo E sounded better than the premium system but now I don't feel that way anymore.

The premium system still needs work but it is getting closer to acceptable.

Greetings,

In all honesty, to sharpen the mids would require the replacement of the OE 6X9. IMO, a traditional 6.5 midbass/midrange speaker is would do the trick. As I tell folks looking to upgrade, you have to spend money. For this would require an aftermarket equipment such as an amp, loc and of course quality speakers. The key is the crossover point between the woofer and the tweeter. The crossover can be either the following: a traditional passive, a passive that always you to bi-amp in conjunction with a 4 channel amp, or go fully active via a DSP unit ($$$$).

The other choice if you are going to keep the 6x9 and did not change the head unit is to change the head unit to a better quality. For example, head units with navi from Kenwood and JVC have 13 band eqs. Alpine DVD unit has a 9 band parametric eq. You can play with mid range frequencies to help improve the mid sound as best as possible.

Best for now.:)

Ordered my Polk 3.5 dash speaker. Any advice on removing the plastic piece over the speaker. Do I have to worry about breaking any clips off of it while removing. Thanks guys, I definately feel the front center was a little muddled sounding and am looking forward to this upgrade.

Start on one side of the plastic piece and pry up until you can get your fingers under there. Use a plastic or somehow padded tool so you don't scratch the plastic or dash.

Once it's up, use common sense and don't yank it off, or pull on the far right end to remove a clip on the left side. Just go slowly from one side to the other, lifting inch by inch and you'll be fine.

You'll feel silly for asking once you see how easy it is...don't worry

Very easy install, just in case anyone wants to know, crutchfield includes the wiring harness that plugs into the jeep harness, no wire cutting and adding connectors required. My wife said phone conversations are much improved and not as muffled sounding. Not sure about music yet though. I have the other polk Dxi 350 speaker and harness for anyone that wants it. 20$ including shipping. Pm if interested.

Challenger. The speaker grill and dash vents are one piece. It all just snaps in and snaps out. The speaker is just screwed down. You'll need a small socket.
