Yup. A component set by definition is a mid range woofer and separate tweeter with a crossover.

Sometimes the tweeter is mounted to the woofer, but in those cases, it's usually removeable so they can be mounted separately.

The factory system is doing it already. It's already sending a separate signal to the woofer and the tweeter, with a specific frequency range.

How do you find the tweeters, not too bright? Is the nearest tweet dominating the front stage or has the stage pretty much been maintained from the stock set up (with superior clarity)?

They are a partially horn loaded, aluminum dome tweeter, so they're bright, but that's how I like my music. Always been a fan of Klipsch for home theater and they're very bright because they use horns.

I wouldn't say they're dominating the sound stage, but you can tell that the front speakers are the only ones that have been replaced. 5db is a big jump, but when the rears get replaced next week, i'm sure things will balance out.

I'm waiting to install the rears and fiberglass the sub before I really judge the upgrade.

Thanks Andoskyy... I suppose I should have asked is your centre speaker still contributing to the stage or has it faded to nothing?

I ask as I am in the middle of setting up my Polk's (slowly) and the centre Polk can no longer be heard over the new Polk tweets.

I don't think the center speaker can really be heard, but I bet I'd notice if it were gone. For audio anyway, it probably just adds some fill.

I replaced the center solely for phone call quality, and still happy with it.

Re: Replacing door speakers this weekend - Picture Requests?

The reason I was asking as my nearest tweet was dominating the system (on any axis). It does appear to be "settling down" a little after an hour or so of use though. Simbilance was driving me nuts but it's getting better. I'm sure it will also help when I actually install the mids...

Did you find any change in sound after an hour or so of use?

Klipsh systems use a lot of horn in their systems,if you like that then cool but it can be overpowering instead of it providing part of the balance that it should.

So you don't have the new door speakers in yet? That should help balance things out considerably I'd think.

My eq before had the trebel pegged to the highest level, now it's down a bit. Can always mess with the balance and fade of needed. I think I'll be OK though.

I haven't actually been in the jeep for more than 30 minutes or so since the install. Been in my Tacoma working on some home projects.

I'll have the rear door speakers in this week and will crank it up and leave them going for a while. I'm a big believer in speaker break in.
