Replacing door speakers this weekend - Picture Requests?

Hi All,

I am going to replace the front 6x9's with Focal ISS690 components this sunday. There have been good pictures posted of the installation process, but wanted to see if there were any specific picture requests that I can take for anyone during my install.

I will also be removing the stock subwoofer enclosure and covering it with fiberglass to stiffen it up. Likely next week, not this weekend. I will take pictures of that process.

My plan is to use my Sound Level Meter before and after the installation to see how many db's I gain at the same volume on the head unit with the more efficient speakers.

So any picture requests, please post here before sunday.

Pictures of the removal, the 6x9s once they're installed and everything in between. Don't forget the tweeter install and rear speakers on the pillars behind the rear seats if you choose to do those. Thanks

Won't be replacing the very rear speakers. There are already a lot of detailed pictures of the door panel removal on a very recent thread, anything specific you're confused about and want to see?

Page 5 has a link to instructions for door panel removal, and user yavgen, posted a link to his Dropbox album of his install. 2014 speaker upgrade

I'll make sure to hit the specific points you mentioned above.

No sound deadening installed.

Install was simple. Result is fantastic.

At the same volume level on the head unit, I gained about 5-6 decibels according to my sound level meter.

Tweeter took the longest. 15 minutes or so with razor blade and file to get the tweeter to fit nice. I removed the whole plastic trim piece around the window which houses the tweeter.

Grey/orange is the positive tweeter wire.

I did not use the Focal in-line crossovers.

Easiest doors I've ever removed/reinstalled. So glad they don't use the old school plastic push tabs anymore.

Very straightforward installation, took about 2 hours.

Will work on uploading the videos of my sound level meter readings.

Why did you choose the focal brand And also the 6x9s? Why not the smaller ones? Are the 6x9s you chose 2 ways with the ability to handle the midrange also and the pillar tweeters will take care of the rest? I'm also assuming you replaced the center dash speaker?

They met my price range ($400), and had the highest sensitivity I could find (94dbs).

Why would I go smaller? Remove and replace, no brackets or fabrication necessary.

That are a component set. Mid range woofer and a tweeter.

Yes, replaced the dash speaker with a Polk a week after I got the truck.

I checked crutchfield and they had nothing for the 2014s as of 3-4 weeks ago. Where did you get the set of speakers and what are the model numbers etc,, where there any modifications necessary or any special plugs to match them with jeeps wires..any special mods at all?? Why didn't you dynamat the doors while you had them open??

2013 = 2014.

Again, they are focal ISS690's. Got them from Crutchfield. They include one set of jeep specific adapters which I used for the 6x9s. I spliced the tweeters.

No, as I said, except for the tweeters, simple swap. Take old ones out, put new ones in.

Don't see a huge need for Dynamat. Doors are rock solid. Might add later, but probably not. Doors take 5 minutes to take off and put back on.
