Re: RER software update to 2.402 (Fixed iphone issues)

Anyone know if this is good for the Export models also?

Just FYI, I have tried the previous version (2.401) since it was mentioned it is for the REP as well but got 'Serious error 1200' message.

I have tried everything but it just stuck at that message and the whole system was unusable!!

Finally I took it to the agent and they tried to fix it but they could not. ended up by ordering a completely new system that took 10 days to arrive.

The new system still have the same 2.201 version and same issues with iPhone 4.

Thanks! I will rather leave it alone then. Appreciate the warning.

Does this do anything else other than the Iphone issue? I just did 2.401 and I won't do this one unless there are other benefits.

Re: RER software update to 2.402 (Fixed iphone issues)

I keep trying; DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW...ughhh.

I have been using the .iso and I know a .iso is a compressed file that needs software to open fully, the system has this ability; correct? I mean I have to believe it does - it's working for everyone else

Re: RER software update to 2.402 (Fixed iphone issues)

I had to use nero lite, burning the files from the zip to a cd-r. Made sure it finalized the disk upon completion. That worked, showed as a data cd for about 10sec, then started the load.

An earlier attempt using a dvd-r failed, using the same burner and software. That disk would just hang a s a data disk.

NO, the .iso file is a compressed bit image of the CD/DCD. The burner software decompresses the data and writes the CD/DVD. The radio can't make any sense of a .iso file, it needs to see the actual data files encoded within the .iso image.

Here's the details on how to burn the disk and update the radio.

Quote:
Instructions:

Unzip the files to your Hard drive and burn them to a CD data disc:

1. For Version 2.402 - Name the CD to RER_2.402 when burning it. (Recommended)

Burn the CD at 2x speed for maximum reliability, and disable multisession (Add files later) on your burning software.

2. Root directory MUST contain only one folder and two files:

BECKER (folder)
CD_INFO.CDI
CONFIG.CDI

Start your car (Recommended), Load the CD in your MyGIG radio and the update will automatically start once the disc is recognized. Updating will take around 15 minutes.
Here's a link to the details: http://www.mofv.com/mygig/DLZipBurnGuide.htm

Re: RER software update to 2.402 (Fixed iphone issues)

mjw930, thanks. Great link with with detailed instructions. The first time I tried this I did exactly what these directions say, with the exception of renaming the disk as described; I just called it RER update. So in this case I would name the disc RER_2.402 (the example uses RER_9.713).

We will see what tomorrow brings.

BTW... you know what is ridiculous, that I even have to go through this. I asked my dealer to perform the upgrade and they refused. It shouldn't be this complicated. What gets me is the inconsistency in information floating around.

Some posts and other forums; Charger, Challenger, etc., say to use a CD-R and unzip files, others say it has to be a DVD and not a CD and others say the .iso is the preferred method as it works more smoothly as it is quicker than the zip file.

Re: RER software update to 2.402 (Fixed iphone issues)

Paired the wife's iphone 4 with the 730N rer flawlessly. It took less than 5 minutes. (updated to 2.402 from 2.202)

I simply burned the disc with the iso image through the software that accompanied my 4 year old Toshiba laptop. (no issues with that either) I used a generic cd-r.

Yes, absolutely. The 2.402 update covers RER, REW, and REP radios for 2008-2011 model years. The Mopar part # is 68141348AA.

Possible flaws could include the data write speed, CD-R vs. other media & not going from v2.3 --> v2.3 --> v2.4

Thoughts/suggestions?
I receive a CD in the US mail with the 2.402 upgrade... tried to upgrade and got the same issue. I started the upgrade operation with my radio off and I receive the expected progress messages... progress RIGHT? Well not really. No matter how many times i press yes for the upgrade from 1.2 something to 2.402 the soft key will not recognize that I have selected YES... any suggestions about this issue?

Yes...There is a certain sequence you have to follow in order to upgrade...some versions cannot jump to others without an incremental update. This website is your friend:

And you can PM Immo he is a member on here if u can't find what u need on that site...but it is very helpful!
