I'm still using the 20GB HD radio so if they have newer, updated radios, I'll hit up my dealer for a new one.
The new radio went in this afternoon, took 15 minutes or so. I've checked it out and set up everything except the CD player, and all is well including USB and Sirius (the subscription stopped working this Saturday on the old radio even though it shouldn't have) except:

With the original radio, it was possible to carousel the right side of the screen using the info icon that would spin through things like the presets menu, clips info, and at one position would show the nav map on the right side of the split screen and some basic radio stuff on the left. This was great.

I've tried seemingly every setting and perused the RHR owner's manual for a screen capture showing this particular split screen -- not shown. On the new radio, what shows on the right instead of the nav map is a Jeep logo at the appropriate carousel position.

Am I missing something here, because this radio-nav split screen is a visual feature I hate to lose. Now it's hard-press nav to get the (full screen) map and hard-press radio to get (full screen) radio and clip data. Either, or -- no split screen like before.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I hate to go back and demand a third radio if this lone issue can somehow be overcome.

77Chero, to answer your question, the rep told me the radio is new, not a refurb, but it has a 20 GB HD which is pretty fishy for a "new" unit. Gracenote is 3265, no surprise, and firmware 2.120, also not a surprise (it came that way, the dealer didn't upgrade it).

Other stuff:
Database is HRT - N 1108 3.2.1
SDS 237246
Hardware System 6852 001 2.17

At this point I would be content just to get my split screen back, but I can't imagine a new unit with a 20 GB hard disk unless they ran low on the 40s again.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)

Lingohocken, On my 730N RHR I can change the display on the right side of the split screen to show Navigtion by pressing Menu hard key and then pressing Map View soft key. Then when I press the Info Icon soft key on the 730N I get various screens on the right side of the split screen including Navigation.

The 2012 730N RHR has a 40GB HDD (20GB useable). The 2012 430N RHB has a 40GB HDD (28GB useable).

Our late-August manufacture 2012 Overland had 20GB, and so too does the replacement put in today: 20.231 GB, with 0.845 GB used (nav, etc) and 19.477 GB left over for owner use.

As you may recall, they ran out of 40 GB drives sometime last year, so reverted to 20GB drives until fall sometime when the supply of 40s was once again adequate. So, yes, most 2012 units have 40 GB drives, but not the early ones (August and September manufacture dates, at least).

Either I got a refurb rather than a new radio today or they have once again run out of 40s, arguably because of the Thailand floods. Whatever, I might do some calling to see if I can get to the bottom of this. Jeep doesn't owe any of us a new unit if a refurb works properly, but I'd like to find out why that smaller HD is there in a supposedly new media center.

Also, what do the following mean?

Database: HPT1 - A 1112 4.2.1
SDSL 237246
System: 6858 001 2.17
Sirius: %1 (I thought Australia didn't have sirius?)

Interesting. These appear newer than what's on the supposedly "new" replacement radio I got today (see below). Tends to confirm suspicions that any radio with a 20 GB HD was originally manufactured many months back.

Just as William Jefferson Clinton once said, "It depends on what the definition of 'is' is," so it depends on Jeep's definition of "new." Maybe we should call these "Lewinsky radios."

I was taking advantage of your post to show that today's replacement radio is likely a refurb. But as to whether you need an update, look to see if your firmware is v2.120. If so, you're up to date except for Gracenote. For that, look through this thread to see if you want to go to Sox's site and download and install the latest, or wait until Jeep is offering it and let your dealer do the update. But GN is far less important than firmware, so check for v2.120 to see whether a serious update is called for. Anything less than 2.120 has issues and should be upgraded.

okay cool.

Yer I do need to update to v2.120 (considering I got delivery of this 7days ago, it would of been nice to already of been updated!)

GN - I'm waiting on the ROW version to then tackle that bad boy of an update.

But are you aware of what the sirius %1 means?

How do I work out what size my HD is?
