Re: ***RHR Navigation Map Enhancements***
I signed up to this site to share my experience. My wife has a 12 Durango R/T and after finding this TSB I checked her database (which I knew was outdated) and saw that it was under the threshold. We scheduled time at the dealer and dropped it off. I explained to them the TSB existed and though they seemed to understand we got a phone call 10 minutes after we left telling us that they are not responsible for updaing the navigation database. Under normal circumstances this is true and I understand this fact, however in this case it seemed they didn't even look. I disagreed with their position and provided the TSB number. The service tech informed me that he would check with his service manager and let me know the results in about 15 minutes. I received a second phone call that they looked up the TSB and it was only a radio update. I then explained again that there is a second part to the TSB that specifically deals with the navigation database on model year 12 vehicles where the database is under 4.3.1 so I asked them if they checked the VIN. They had not at that time so I requested they do so. If they had come back and said the VIN was not accepted I would have understood that, but at that point it had not even been checked. They agreed to go ahead and check the VIN and would call me back with the results. Later in the afternoon we had not heard from them so we called and sure enough the VIN was part of this TSB or that is what we have been lead to believe, however it did not show up in their application. The problem was, they had not been provided the updated DVD which makes me question if they had even received the TSB in the first place. I would have thought that a TSB like this would have come with require disk. Who knows, could be lost in someones mailbox. In any event, they had to order the disk and will call us when it comes in. I know its not standard operating procedure to update navigation databases on vehicles but clearly this seems to be an exception.
BTW, I have an 11 SRT Challenger and received my navigation disk today. When I updated it isn't the very latest database (I have a Garmin as well from a previous car). For comparison sake, the latest Garmin City Navigator is 2013.30. The Navteq DVD seems to be the same as the previous Garmin 2013.20. I have a new tollway with two new interchanges that were built recently by my house plus a few other minor road changes. The interchanges are now both complete, however 2013.30 includes the second new interchange while 2013.20 did not. I have no idea how these versions correlate to the Navteq update disk version.
Lastly to address unimatrixzer0, I thought about doing this but don't want to screw anything up. I am just going to let the dealer finish out the service ticket.
