I'm trying to install via USB as well (I don't really want to go buy a CD-R). Can you give me some steps that allowed you to install? I have the .iso file on my USB drive but what do I do when I plug it in???
I applied both the firmware update and the Gracenotes update this afternoon successfully. (I don't really care much about the latter, but staying current isn't a terrible thing...)
I contacted SOX to see if there are any release notes for this update, but unfortunately, at the moment, there does not seem to be any.
That said, I note that they clearly have made some improvements to the Bluetooth side of things. While streaming from my public radio station app (wxpn.org) or the Apple Music app via Bluetooth, I'm now getting the song information available on the display. That was not the case with v2.600. Hopefully, there is improved stability when the BT phone connection interrupts music playback as I was getting occasional "system goes out of its mind" incidents on very long trips with v2.600.
The update retained my radio presets, but set the EQ back to "flat", so I had to return it to where I like it.
They really cannot add features to the hardware that don't exist already...texting would be an example I suspect. But yes, reliability and Bluetooth improvements are what I'm noticing.
FYI for anyone using USB drive. I had an issue where nothing worked, so I extracted the files and created a new iso, which then worked perfectly. I'm not sure what the issue was with the original I dl'd, but it does work with USB drive.
I really hope this fixes my radio freezing issues while streaming over Bluetooth. It had gotten to the point that it was basically guarenteeed after 30min or so of listening - even after a radio swap!
Glad to hear it - I am currently at the point where anytime I try to stream music via BT from my IP7 that the unit eventually hangs. Oddly phone calls are not affected. Looking forward to trying the update!
It's definitely an improvement. The bluetooth doesn't connect as quickly as other vehicles, and it does stammer when it first connects. But it's improved, and is quicker.
If you burned the ISO to the USB Memory Stick properly, insert it in the USB port on the front of the device and then turn on the vehicle. You may or may not need to select the USB "device" in the menu. With the DVD method, inserting the disk triggers the update automagically.
When you say installed correctly on the USB... could you elaborate? I download the .iso file and then uploaded it onto my usb stick. I then plugged that into my car but nothing happens. Did I not install it correctly onto the USB? Do I need to open the iso file first and install the 3 items onto my USB?
You need to extract the files to the stick. Also, after you plug into the head unit, it takes a good 15-20 seconds before it reads and lets you know it's going to update. FYI, google iso to usb and use that. Works perfectly.
You have to "burn" (extract) the ISO to the target disc, not just copy the file. It's a piece of cake on MacOS...I'm not remembering the procedure on Windows.
Windows 8 and 10 -- just double-click the iso file and it opens just like a folder. You'll see two files plus a folder named Becker. Just drag Becker and the two other files to your thumb and you're good to go. For earlier Windows versions, try using 7-zip to open the iso.
My update hung right after the Security Check step. UPDATE screen never showed any progress bars. Had to disconnect the battery to turn off the display.
Anybody know if it matters whether you use a newer USB 3.0 stick, or must use an old 2.0 stick? Strange question--but it was suggested on another forum.
Is the bluetooth module in the radio itself for this, or separate? So odd that phone calls never hang, and if I plug in direct with the USB there is also never a problem - only when streaming music.
Is anyone else out there using an IP7 without issue?
So, i've been getting freezes. Mainly when first connecting after starting the jeep. I guess you need to let the radio play and BT connect and then wait before playing music from the iphone. Also, another new issue started since this update. The phone would randomly connect like you were making a call through the head unit, and you can't end the call. The phone isn't making any calls or using Siri, just the HU. I have to kill the BT, then restart to end this. Weird..
I have the RHR and suddenly I can't delete or pair phones. I am downloading 2.7 now, any ideas? I did disconnect fuse and tried again with no luck. The hard drive is working and it plays music fine. Thanks
