Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

Yeah...I tried clearing and re-connecting and everything else I have read on the web...still have the same issues as i stated in my previous post. Does anyone know how to do a software upgrade on the 430N if there is such a thing?

I have a 2015 GC Summit on the way and am thinking of upgrading my phone from a Samsung S3 (Sprint) to an S5 (AT&T).

The uconnect website indicates bluetooth audio streaming on an 8.4AN is not supported with an S5 but it is with an S3 or S4....WTF?

Is this saying that I will not be able to play Pandora/Spotify over bluetooth to my car speakers?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

I called Uconnect cust support and they told me that the S5 and many other model phones are using a new Bluetooth software version and it is not compatible with the older version. They also informed me that they are working on a fix for this issue in their latest software upgrade. Unfortunately, they don't have a release date as of this time. If you go to the UConnect website, you can check for updates based on the last 8 digits of your VIN. Basically she said to keep checking and when it is available, you just download it to a usb drive and then install it.

This is absolutely crazy. I really don't put blame on UConnect or any other bluetooth device supplier that has put out a product in the past...the blame should solely be put on the bluetooth standards and manufactures who do not put in backward compatibility for older software levels...just unimaginable!!!

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

Thanks for the info!

As for the backwards compatibility issues... video game consoles, computers software, and most tech are either not or with issues.. in this case, it is backwards with issues.. no name or number read out. But still reads messages..

Thanks for the info. Even though that's not the answer I was hoping for, it does at least make sense now.

I would assume that most new phones introduced from here forward will also utilize this new bluetooth version, so the good news is that Unconnect will have to adapt (hopefully sooner rather than later) to support them.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

Having similar issues with my S5 (Verizon) in my 2014 wrangler unlimited uconnect 430N. It paired fine but when I try to make calls the call rings twice than disconnects but does not hang up phone it just disconnects from Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon is still active on phone but not transmitting through uconnect system. I have tried to toggle on and off the Bluetooth icon but the uconnect system does not pick it back up. Very annoying hopefully an update will be out very soon.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

Chinsta - Thanks for the update. I have the exact same issue on on 2012 GC. It mostly worked for a few weeks (dropped calls now and then), but notice the same thing yesterday for all calls.

S5 is working fine with my 2014.

It has occasional glitches (probably unrelated to S5 specifically), but overall everything works.

That's good to know. I went ahead and rolled the dice by upgrading to an S5 in hopes that I either wouldn't have any issues, or Uconnect would resolve them soon.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Connection Problem

I've also got issues with my S5 (and also the wife's) on our 2012 JGC. Starting a call from the voice commands will hang up on uconnect after the second ring, but both the connected phone and receiving phone indicate the call is still connected. Neither can hear the other person though. Dialing from the phone while uconnect is in the phone mode seems to connect fine and retain the call.

Hopefully an update to fix will be released. I may mention to the dealer when I'm in for warranty work in the next week and see if they have any ideas.
