Satellite dropouts?

Has anyone noticed the appearance of very brief Sirius satellite dropouts recently?

On routes where there never before were any dropouts, our 730N has been having the occasional one-second or so dropout with Sirius (all channels) over the past ten days or so. There are any number of possible causes, including Sirius' satellites, sunspots and so on. But of course another possibility is some issue with this particular radio, antenna or connection.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

Yeah, getting the same thing with a 430N. Didn't start happening until the past couple of weeks.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

I've noticed a few new dropouts too. Maybe they are working on the system.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

Oddly enough we've noticed the exact opposite for the last couple of weeks out here in the northwest. Very few dropouts on drives that used to be a lot worse for satellite reception. I'd say it's a Sirius thing.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

Thanks for the helpful feedback. Sounds as if there is something related to Sirius' satellite antenna beam heading, as Left Coast is improving while Old Coast is faltering slightly.

Noticed in in AZ too but it is definitely a location thing for me. Same spot on the freeway every morning. Changing the radio won't help, I just put in an RHB on Tuesday and got the same result.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

No probs a bit down south from ya Lingohocken. I do however have a different head unit than you. I have the 430 RBZ.

Try calling Sirius, go through the automated prompts and initiate a "radio refresh". See if that helps any.

Re: Satellite dropouts?

Unlike XM, Sirius satellites fly a Tundra orbit and do not hold the same position in your sky.
