Re: SD Card Requirements

USB Works much better than SD. And I've tried several USB's and they all work fine.

Currently use a 128GB USB 3.0 Stick (I know the car is only USB 2.0) but I use USB 3.0 because it writes so much faster on the computer.

I have about 9000 tunes on it.

Re: SD Card Requirements

I have no issues with the 64GB SD card I'm using. I had to format it for NTSF so it would read the larger card (UCOnnect won't read ExFAT).

I do have the card locked so it won't do goofy things to it.

The only issue I have is the shuffle play sucks on the system. Apparently an aweful lot of media player software programmers suck at the "If, then, else" statements because the fail to program in "IF song has been played, then play all other unplayed songs until (else) no more unplayed songs exist".

It's like programmers are kindergartners these days...

It's actually shocking how many media players do this one feature so poorly. There's nothing worse on a long trip than hearing the same song several times while others go unplayed - especially if it's a song you threw on the card, but aren't a big fan of. Now you hate it.

That's what I've read that works.

Love the sound quality but hate all these little issues.
Turns out any songs purchased on itunes will not play or even display on a USb stick. It's not authorized.

Re: SD Card Requirements

I was, without any trouble, using a 128MB SD until the last UConnect update. Now if I put any SD in, the unit gets so flakey that it becomes unusable.

...and that's why I give my money to Amazon, and not Apple.

At any rate, just export the songs you want to put on the card to a CD, then re-copy them in as MP3s. Then you can use them in the Jeep.

I believe the issue is more in the Apple music being AAC formatted rather than any sort of DRM. I seem to think the UConnect system will only play MP3s or WAV files.

I agree. I rolled the "SIRI Eyes" update back on my 2015 Overland.

It was really flakey with 128GB USB too.

I was worried that the 2017 would essentially have that same update and have the same issues. But everything has been working great.

It really fries my goat that I "purchased" the music but don't really own it.

Thanks for the tip. I can live with that little fix.

Re: SD Card Requirements

Unfortunately music is heading to an era where we only rent the 0 and 1 digital code it is made up of. I still don't believe Apple's bs about removing the standard audio jack on the new iPhones.

It's totally about DRM and removing the analog hole.

The worst part is, Apple has a history of applying DRM to things they don't even own and never had DRM to begin with.
