Re: SD card Vs USB

I have a Blackberry and for some reason when I try to connect via bluetooth and use Pandora I can't get the music to transfer too Uconnect. I just keeps playing out of my phone. (Even though my phone is paired and shows it on the screen).

Anyone else have a Blackberry and had issues?

On the blackberry make sure it sees the UConnect as a media device not just a hands free. You would also need to tell us which blackberry as the V10 stuff is nothing even remotely like the original. If you have an older phone (BB7) make sure you plug into the blackberry desktop and update the software. Blackberry 7.0 needs to be updated to the latest 7.1 version not to be a flaky turd. 7.0 is buggy with certain external hardware..... also 7.0 is missing mobile hotspot.

I have the BlackBerry Bold 9930. Current version 7.1.0. I toyed with it again and I was able to get Pandora to work on the bluetooth. However, it doesn't pull song title, artist info onto the Uconnect screen. Is there a setting I need to turn on to display that? Maybe the blackberry needs a version update? Does Pandora maybe need a version update, I have version 1.1.12?

That may be a blackberry issue but I don't know for sure. I would check for updates for the blackberry first. It is either sending the data to the radio or not. Also search the forum for the UConnect update site and verify your radio is running the latest software as well.

Re: SD card Vs USB

Hello! I have just purchased a new 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. Imagine my surprise to learn the 14s have no CD player. Guess I did not read the fine print closely enough. However I do see there is an SD Card port. Two questions: I would like a recommendation on what type or brand of SD Card to purchase in 16 GB that will be compatible for use in my 2014 Grand. Also, is it possible to transfer my music from CDs to the SD Card and what is the best method to do this for one who is not very technically savvy, i.e. myself. Many thanks!

Re: SD card Vs USB

I'm using an Amazon branded card. I used a program that came on my laptop. Once running it was just a matter of feeding the CDs. I forget what quality setting I used, but it was the one recommended in the Jeep owner's manual.

Although I found out here, before buying, that there was no cd player, I too was surprised.

Re: SD card Vs USB

Thank you Bill. This helps me a lot. I checked Amazon earlier and saw a number of SD Cards available. I just was not sure if a standard SD card would be compatible for use in my Jeep.

I forgot to mention I am using a class 10, although I don't know if it matters.

After you've read this thread from the beginning, go to this thread:
2014 sd card capacity?
And you'll have plenty of information.

Re: SD card Vs USB

Thank you! I just reviewed some of the material on the additional link you suggested. Very informative. I am ordering a Sandisk SD card from Amazon. Judging from some of the comments on the other thread it sounds like the heavy lifting will be involved with transferring my data (music) from my CDs to the SD card. Technology does indeed change faster than we realize. I gather CDs are now rather passť. Hard to teach old dogs like me new tricks!

Class 10 memory cards are the fastest, and therefore should function the best when playing back music. Those of you who are having delays when playing music, slow reaction times, or skipping are probably using memory cards that are less than class 10. Most "common" memory cards are class 4. Upgrading to a class 10 memory card will likely solve many of the problems you guys are experiencing.

Re: SD card Vs USB

The class 10 cards definitely write much quicker, but the read rate won't be noticeably faster in the Jeep, especially with a 16 gb card. I use a class 4, and it works just fine.
And Buddy, if you have a Windows PC with Media Player, the transition of your music from CD to SD is actually pretty easy once you get going.
