Also, is it possible to transfer my music from CDs to the SD Card and what is the best method to do this for one who is not very technically savvy, i.e. myself. Many thanks!
My first attempt(s) with SD card did not meet with success. They did not work reliably. Reluctantly I went the USB route. I got a 16 Gig drive from Amazon for $12 and change. One of the short ones which is only about 1/4" longer than the male plug. Works great.

Very easy to rip a CD to add to your card. Actually has many advantages over using CD's. might be best to get a lesson from a local computer affianado.

Re: SD card Vs USB

I assume a used 4th generation ipod touch or the new 5th ipod touch would work well via bluetooth???

Yes it probably would. But then you still have to plug it into power or keep doing the recharge thing. The SD or USB route is much handier. Just set it and forget it.

Re: SD card Vs USB

I'm not so tech savy, would this work for loading music for the Jeep? Or are there separate SD cards only for music, video, pictures....etc? I'm asking because part of the description for this card states:

"Highest Full HD video recording performance available with class 10 rating"

Amazon.com: Sandisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 Micro SD Card with SD Adapter: Computers & Accessories?

Just like to make sure it's ok for loading/playing music.

It would most likely work, but unless you have another use for a 'mini', why buy something that needs an adapter? The Amazon SD cards themselves are fine.

I agree. It will sound much better than Bluetooth too. Bluetooth is very bandwidth limited.

Bluetooth is good if you want to stream, say Pandora which will need a phone. Using a Touch, just for Storage is kind of a waste.

Same here (3200 miles now), but with 8gb cards. I did a radio reset once already, and that helped for about 2000 miles until now. Dealer looked at it today, tried to figure it out and eventually they used another stick and put songs on and it worked. They suggested I reformat the sticks and don't put the songs in seperate folds, just put them on the stick. I think that is crap, becaue they worked ok before. They could not get the sticks to work at all in my Jeep. They still work perfect in my car and PC, so IDK. This system has a bug in it, that's for sure. I know my issues got worse when I was listening to music via the stick, and my Nav interrupted for a turn. After that it would not play a song for more than 1-15 sec. It won't even read my other stick that I removed from my car (2010 Camaro). I'm going to try a new stick and see how long it lasts.

Re: SD card Vs USB

From what I read here, the USB sticks / SD cards can get corrupted by recording random stuff from the UConnect system. SD cards have a little lock tab you can set to lock to prevent this. I do not think you can lock a USB stick not sure. This may help.

Re: SD card Vs USB

Did some searching on Amazon and came up with these. I'd like to get a 32gig SD card but prices vary. Does it really matter which brand? Class 10 necessary?

Amazon.com: sd card class 10

I've been using one like this since April (3,000 mi.). Formatted FAT32, and as willjeep says, lock the card before you put it in the Jeep. Maybe 50 albums or so, and plenty of room left. Works fast and flawlessly.

Re: SD card Vs USB

I did another radio reset. The 1 stick I have been using is working fine now. After getting it working, I checked the stick and there were 2 log files saved on there. I'm not sure if these were from the dealer today or what. One is ecall_log and the other is GPSReset.log. I removed them.

The one stick from my car I cannot get to work, even after reformatting once to fat 32, and once to NTFS. I also just put a few songs on there, nothing else. It plays fine on my pc and car though. The thing is, these are both sandisk 8gb cruiser sticks. The one that works is a U3 smart stick. I removed the LaunchU3 from it though. I also tried a new 16gb that I have, and it works fine. I tried to make it hang up by pulling the stick out while it was playing, used the Nav while playing and even switched between sticks and so far it's been ok. The 2 different sticks that work have not hung up since the radio reset. Hope this helps.
