I think somebody mentioned previously that the little (1-2") black square nub on the roof is for the Sat Radio or Nav, and the other of those two is in the dash. Or something. I bet somebody knows for sure
Nice pull Sparro. This is a great, simple mod just for FM/AM antennae. The fin itself replaces the stock mast and has an antennae wire that bolts directly to your stock mount wiring. It seems like an item that will be stock for next model year.
Note that it can be painted to match many cars specific colors, but Jeep isn't listed. The Chrysler paints seem to include the same Jeep Inferno Red, Black Pearl, Bright Silver, and Stone White. Maybe others if you search around.
I know some guys on Charger forums bought this shark fin and they seemed to really like it. Apparently the company can even paint it to match as long as you give them the paint code.
I wonder if there would be enough room in that fin to cover the Sat antenna while still connecting the wire coil to the AM/FM antenna connector and preserving both AM/FM and Sat reception.
At $69, this is a reasonable accessory for those that feel the antennae could get in the way of a rack's accessories. Jeep isn't mentioned in the choices though.
I purchased a shark fin (from this supplier) for my wife's G8, but once it arrived I opted to not install it.
It is great quality and paint match is perfect, but the method they use for install is subpar. They use 1/8" wide sponge style 2 sided tape, that concerned me I was afraid that eventually it would fall off or rust the roof from the sponge holding water.
Just my opinion, but it is not worth the money, kind of reminds me of the fake cell phone antenna back in the day, if they had a better way of attaching it to the car it would be a great alternative, but they don't.
And, I doubt the tape that they do use is a "sponge"! Closed cell foam won't absorb water, and most trim pieces are held with this form of adhesive, including the badges.
