What does this even mean? Are you suggesting that the member who organized a group buy, in which you voluntarily participated in, is at fault here?

Re: Shark Fin Antenna

^^I thought VG's reply was reasonable. In addition, the FAQ on their site clearly addresses the reception topic:

***
"Is VG Shark Fin Antenna functional and how does it compare to stock?

Yes! The built in fractal antenna attaches directly to your antenna base and gives you normal reception for AM and FM radio. The reception is consistently better than any stubby antenna that we tested, and virtually unchanged within the city compared to the stock antenna. However, you might notice a drop in reception when further away from the source."
***

Perhaps the use of the loaded term "scam" is a language barrier issue. Whatever, I believe I got what I paid for and knew going in that I might take a hit in reception quality (I haven't, though).

In addition, The price was very good...try to bring a plastic part to have it painted and look at the bill... "We paid not even paint and shipping"....

Maybe it is sounds harsh, but I hope we all getting antenna for radio not for just better look. Would be good if member who organized all this possibly contacted company and report issues happened to many owners. That is all.

I have to respectfully disagree B65. Everyone had an opportunity to make an informed adult buying decision. The organizer who coordinated it did it as a service and a courtesy for other members. He should not be burdened with additional responsibilities if a few folks have performance complaints with their purchases, no matter how valid. VisualGarage is easy to contact and very responsive. They also handled each purchase transaction individually with our members. Suggest anyone with issues take care of their own bidness. My .02.

Re: Shark Fin Antenna

^agreed.

I am sure we all bought the Sharkfin for a different reason, so I wouldn't assume. Personally, I ordered the Sharkfin for a better look with the hope that it didn't diminish reception. If the reception was better than that would be a definite bonus, but it wasn't one of my requirements.

Granted I am not dismissing your disatisfaction - I would be upset too. But I knew that it was a possibility and is why I tested the reception before I permanently installed it so I could have returned if needed.

I believe I saw somewhere you have/had a 2009 G37. Well in my 2008 G37 Coupe, the 'sharkfin' antenna on the roof was for XM radio only. The FM/AM antennas are in the back glass at the top above the defroster lines. This was determined after many were having reception issues when going with a cheaper, metallic window tint.

You installed it, right? Here is your answer:

I am not sure what you were expecting me to be able to do that you can not do yourself. You got your answer in a previous post that they do not except returns for refunds. If you believe you got a faulty antenna, which sounds like you may have as very few had issues with them; there is a direction you can take with VisualGarage.

Good luck!

Re: Shark Fin Antenna

I have a sharkfin ordered, and after reading this thread, I was curious about reception problems. Today I unscrewed and removed the whip antenna to see what would happen. I noticed very little difference in reception on the two radio stations (one AM and one FM) I had selected for the test. Both were broadcast from Tulsa metro area, about 25 miles from my location, however I'm sure fringe areas would suffer from the lack of the antenna. I would suppose that any shielding effect the shark fin cover would have would be offset by the internal antenna. I'm wondering if some are forgetting to attach the antenna lead when they do the install??

I don't think that is the case with anybody getting bad signals, my suggestion would be before you will glue shark fin to the car attach it and try. In this case if it is bad you could return, I hope ....

Re: Shark Fin Antenna

Very interesting, he been quiet all this time and only available at certain moment, but anyway.
My only hope been since you have such great "relation" to this company that you could help people who Are not happy to return or exchange antennas. Also I hopped since we gave them such good orders number (lot) they could change this brutal to me policy.

I explained why I have been "quiet".

You are confusing business with becoming bestfriends. It was purely a business deal where 70+ members received a discount on an antenna. I was not added to his Christmas card mailing list and will not be receiving any invitations for parties, weddings, quinceaneras, or bar mitzvahs.

Again, confusing business with friendship.

Did you bring up this matter when we all first received the sharkfin? Not with a forum of people who do not work for VisualGarage, but with VG themselves? If so, what did they say then? If not, well.......

You are expecting something to come from a thread started by a member that was not in the group buy and nearly two months later. Your window for return has closed. If you believe your unit is faulty, go that route; if not, you installed it wrong.

I setup the group buy to get a better deal for members of this forum you wanted to join in. I did not become the permanent liaison for you.
