Re: shark fin guys - can anyone speak to reception after install?
I installed my VG Sharkfin over the weekend. It arrived quite quickly and installation was a breeze - I followed Tinkan's guide (less the electrical grease, I didn't have any and wasn't patient enough to track some down). The hardest part was getting up there to line the adhesive up (I'm 6'4" and still needed a ladder and some full-body contact to the tailgate to reach)
I was concerned about reception with metallic paint, so I had them do a black clearcoat. I can't see a difference between the sharkfin and my Brilliant Black roof unless I get up on a ladder, lean in and put my nose to it, but I assume I won't be doing that very much in normal driving conditions haha. Perhaps with a lighter color one could tell, but many OEM sharkfins on other cars are the matte black plastic (like the WK2 antenna base) so anything body color would look fine.
I listen to a lot of AM (the local news/traffic), a little FM and never had satellite before, so have sampled it but am not hooked. I spent Sunday driving around listening to different stations in different places I commonly go to. I heard no difference in reception for AM, FM or satellite (Philly metro).
So, thumbs up from me.
