Nice-looking camera. Versatile mounting and compact. I have requested the sensor model to check the capabilities of the camera.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

Couldn't resist, I ordered one too. It looks like I can hide it better than the license plate mount I originally got from Amazon. I will be mounting it in the same spot where the OEM camera would be.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

wow! tybalt39 I'm impressed. it sounds like you know what you are doing. please let us know your findings becuase these things are so cheap for nightvision.

on a different note I ordered my lockpick CHR 550 from auottoys but I'm not very ipressed with their lack of tracking of the product. I was hoping to get it before this long weekend to start working on it, but unfortunatly my order says processed with no tracking http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=18953

I'll update if something changes.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

Update. Autotoys emailed me back and saying it is backordered. I Canceled my order and ordered one from Amazon which was cheaper anyway. it is too bad I really wanted to give autotoys a try. but they delayed my project I was hoping to work on it this weekend.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

I received the camera sold from the ebay link. Great picture for the price, I have not tested the low light yet. No instructions whatsoever, not a problem if you're a little mechanically inclined. If the install goes well, I will probably get a couple more for backup, just in case.

Crappy pics below.

I'm only doing the rear for now, I don't think I can bring myself to drill into the side mirror housing without a replacement set handy.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

Good news and bad news. I installed the camera and after 3 or so hours removing trim and snaking wires to the radio, oh and I had to install the Mygig lockpick so that took some of the time too.

The result, camera picture is great. The bad part is the picture is tilted and I cannot fix it. It looks like it's from within the camera housing itself and no way to adjust from the outside. Half a day wasted, I will end up getting the more expensive one from amazon (not the license plate one). Pic below.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

And this is after rotating the housing to face straight backwards (or forwards, your choice) and adjusting the angle up/down? I realize this is a very wide-angle lens, so the image will be "fish-eyed", but you should be better able to point the camera where you want it.

You should have 90-degrees of adjustment for up/down, and at least 180-degrees of left/right adjustment. The camera does have to be on a level surface (unless the camera has rotation adjustments that I didn't see in the spec). Sticking the camera to the surface with tape or putty before permanently mounting is always a good idea, so you can verify the position and image.

Can you turn off the parking-assist lines? Those could be annoying for side-viewing.

Re: side cameras for my Jeep GC 2013.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right. The part that needs to be adjusted, to me anyways, is inside the lens, on the X axis. The only way I can do that is to try and rotate it from the inside of the plastic housing. I can turn the housing left and right and there is an adjustment to go up and down but the image is still tilted.

The park assist lines are fixed into the camera and as far as I know cannot be turned off.

I shouldn't but I gave up on the camera already. I went ahead and got the Sony rear camera from Amazon. The cable going to the radio can be reused so that's a big plus, now I just need to hide the Sony camera's control/signal processor box. You can see it here...
